Nakano, located close to Shinjuku, is a unique district in Tokyo. For Japanese people, Nakano is known as the district that attracts people that come from many different cultures, and where devoted anime and manga geeks (otaku) gather to hunt for anime or idol merchandise. Akihabara is the town filled with anime and manga, while Nakano, on the other hand, has a lot to offer in addition to anime and manga culture: local shopping streets with locals living there, old buildings with lots of unique second-hand shops, Nakano Broadway, and food alleys.
