Why Sho Recommends This Tour

Tips and recommendations by our official guides

Experience Japan’s vibrant “Taku-Nomi” (home drinking) culture with a twist in this cozy, night-time izakaya-style cooking class! Sip on handpicked varieties of Japanese sake as you learn how to make a delicious lineup of local comfort foods—like crispy takoyaki (a must in Osaka!), savory chicken with green onion, mayo, and ponzu, wasabi-marinated tuna, and an addictive shredded cabbage salad known as "Mugen Cabbage." Every dish is designed to pair perfectly with the three types of sake included, carefully selected by MagicalTrip to showcase a broad range of flavors. And yes—Japanese beer and other beverages are available too!

In Japan, izakaya culture revolves around enjoying small plates that complement your drinks, and “taku-nomi” takes this social concept into the home—where there’s usually no time limit and you just relax with great food, drinks, and company. While our tour has a set duration to keep things smooth, you’ll still enjoy the same laid-back, no-pressure vibe without worrying about noisy crowds or busy izakayas. Especially in Osaka, home parties often revolve around takoyaki-making, with locals pulling out their trusty takoyaki pans for a fun, shared cooking experience. That’s the spirit we bring to this class!

Whether you're a foodie, sake lover, or just someone curious about Japanese home cooking, this experience is perfect for you. Couples, friends, and even solo travelers will feel right at home, and vegetarians can enjoy the same menu with easy ingredient swaps. Want to recreate the magic back home? No worries—we use easy-to-find ingredients and provide downloadable recipes so you can host your own taku-nomi night anywhere in the world!

No cooking experience? No problem! Our friendly local guides will walk you through each recipe step-by-step. Everything is beginner-friendly and designed to be fun, chill, and stress-free—just like a night at a friend’s house. Come hungry, come curious, and come ready to laugh, cook, and sip your way through one of Japan’s most beloved traditions.
