Tips and recommendations by our official guides
Escape the city and discover the beauty of Shirakawa-go on a private five-hour tour from Kanazawa! With your own professional guide and driver, you’ll explore at a relaxed pace while making the most of your limited time — stress-free and efficient.
Wander through the UNESCO World Heritage village, where Gassho-zukuri farmhouses stand tall with steep thatched roofs built to endure heavy snow. Stop by the Wada House, the largest and most elegant home in the village, to glimpse how generations once lived in harmony with nature. From the Shiroyama Viewpoint, take in a breathtaking panorama of the valley dotted with traditional houses, and visit Shirakawa Hachiman Shrine — home to the centuries-old Doburoku Festival celebrating the harvest and the village’s spiritual roots.
Experience the beauty of Shirakawa-go through the stories behind its local cuisine. For lunch, savor tender Hida beef grilled with hooba miso — a traditional dish born from the wisdom of mountain life, using magnolia leaves to warm preserved miso during harsh winters. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and halal options are also available.
Perfect for anyone seeking authentic culture beyond sightseeing, this tour welcomes families, couples, seniors, and solo travelers alike. With all transportation arranged and a friendly English-speaking guide by your side, all you need to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy an unforgettable journey into Japan’s heartland.
