But to truly understand the soul of this magnificent "White Heron Castle", you need a local guide! I designed this tour for travelers who want to dive deeper into Japan's samurai history and culture.
First, we will hop on our bikes for a leisurely ride—the absolute best way to effortlessly explore the expansive castle town without getting exhausted. Before entering the castle, we'll taste a 300-year-old traditional sweet once presented to feudal lords. Then, we will explore the World Heritage castle inside and out, learning its defensive secrets. Afterward, we will take an easy ride to a hidden local shrine for the perfect photo, and finally relax at Kokoen, a breathtaking Daimyo garden, with authentic matcha tea. You can even keep your bike until 6 PM to explore more!

After meeting at Himeji Station, we will hop on our comfortable rental bikes for an easy ride into the castle town. Our first stop is a historic sweets shop with over 300 years of history, where we will sample "Tamatsubaki," an elegant confection once presented to feudal lords. Next, we will explore the magnificent Himeji Castle, also known as the "White Heron Castle." As we climb to the top of the keep, our local guide will reveal the brilliant defensive secrets and samurai history that make this stunning fortress truly unassailable.
Enjoy a leisurely bike ride to a hidden local shrine for the perfect castle photo
After taking in the breathtaking panoramic views from the top of Himeji Castle, we will enjoy a leisurely and effortless bike ride through the historic castle town. Navigating the expansive grounds by bike is completely stress-free! Our guide will lead you away from the tourist crowds to a quiet, hidden local shrine. This secret spot offers a spectacular, uncrowded vantage point for capturing the perfect photographs of the castle.
Relax and enjoy authentic matcha tea in Kokoen, a stunning Daimyo garden
After our photo stop, we will take a relaxed ride to the picturesque Kokoen, a spectacular traditional Daimyo garden. Immerse yourself in the peaceful harmony of Japanese "Wabi-Sabi" design while admiring beautiful flora, ponds, and waterfalls. We conclude the tour by enjoying an authentic matcha green tea in this serene setting. The guided tour officially ends here, but you can keep your rental bike until 6:00 PM to continue exploring the city!

- Cycling under the influence of alcohol, and using a smartphone while cycling are strictly prohibited by law in Japan. Penalties will be imposed on violators, as well as on bicycle providers and fellow passengers. (Smartphone use is allowed when the bicycle is stopped.)
- There are many stairs inside the castle, so please check if you have companions who are concerned about navigating stairs without an elevator beforehand. You must remove your shoes upon entering. Please wear shoes that are easy to walk in and remove.
- Individuals aged 12 and above can join this cycling tour.
- You are not required to cover the cost of the guide's food and drinks.
- Please bring cash if you wish to purchase additional snacks and beverages.
- The itinerary for this tour includes some locations that are not accessible by a wheelchair or stroller.
- This tour is not recommended for individuals with mobility issues. If you have difficulty walking, we recommend booking a private tour.
- Japan’s climate has become more extreme, with summer temperatures reaching up to 40°C (110°F) and winter lows dropping to -5°C (20°F). Please prepare accordingly for the tour.
