The trip was wonderful, even though it’s freezing. Yusuke San briefed the trip details before starting and explained the history of each attraction. The matcha experience was amazing. I enjoyed it so much!

I had a great time with our tour guide. The group was small and it was nice to ask him questions about the shrines and Japanese culture.

My friend and I loved the hike to Fushimi Inari, which had been delayed by a day due to bad weather on the original date. We enjoyed learning a bit about Kyoto’s history on the city portion of the hike before starting the climb up. Good shoes/runners are recommended as the terrain can be rocky and rooty. A hiking pole came in handy for narrower sections. The pace was brisk, but Yusuke gave us many breaks. He was informative about the Shinto rituals, practices and symbols. A highlight was the peaceful bamboo forest. Our group met no other people until we were at the top. The descent down through the vermillion torii gates was extremely crowded, since most people were walking up from the main entrance. We were thankful to have experienced climbing along a much more forested, peaceful route. Yusuke was friendly and welcoming, offering plenty of tips for restaurants and other activities in the Kyoto area. We highly recommend this hike and guide.

Yusuke was a great guide that helped is understand more parts of Japanese culture beyond drinking in bars. He also showed us cool shipping spots while walking between bars and gave great recommendations for other food and shopping nearby.
