This was by far the best experience I had during by three week trip to Japan. Shoto, the sumo wrestlers and the other tour guide leaders at Magical Trip were incredibly welcoming and accommodating to everyone in my group. It was awesome to learn about the history of sumo wrestling in Japan, face off against real sumo wrestlers, and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal. I would definitely recommend this experience if you're at all interested in sumo wrestling!

The tour was very interesting and Akiko and Shoto were informative and a pleasure to spend time with. The destinations were exactly what we were looking for and the lunch was amazing. Highly recommended! :)

Shoto is an AMAZING tour guide, photographer, and person. He took every photo I wanted to take, showed me so many cool spots in Shinjuku, and also taught me a little bit about the culture. The photos came out awesome, I’m so happy with them. He also traveled to Shibuya with me because I really wanted to get photos at the crossing which I am so grateful for. Big tick on my bucket list, riding the streets of Tokyo!One of the best days in Tokyo...superb weather and really informative tour,  Easy pace, safe riding on main roads and back streets, and plenty of stops to learn about the history of Japan and its culture: Sumo, Buddhism and temples, Shinto and shrines, fish market, delicious food, chance to shop for traditional gifts, detour for hi-rise view over the city. Magical trip's bar hopping is always the best in town. Last night was my 2nd time using the service and this time we went to 2 places, Omoide Yokocho in Shinjuku and Ebisu Yokocho in Ebisu. This is my first time going to those places and man it has a strong steampunk-y feeling there. The places are basically full of Japanese traditional bar with loud but super friendly neighborhood. Our tour guide, Shoto and trainee tour guides Yuki and Ai are great! They speak English fluently so you won't feel any language barrier, they're also very nice you won't feel lonely or neglected. I had a great time and would definitely recommend you on using this amazing tour for your visit in Japan.

We had no idea that we could see this much of Tokyo on bike and definitely did not expect such a knowledgeable and fun guided tour for cheap!After experimenting with following online guides for touring, joining official 1-day tour groups, and sometimes going it completely on our own, signing up for this bike tour was a whole new way to approach our vacation explorations.Looking back on our trip while sharing stories with friends, we feel that this bike tour single-handedly checked off all the major places to visit in the huge metropolis that is Tokyo.The best part of it all? Shoto is the MAN! He was eager to share his wealth of cultural knowledge, super caring about matching his approach with our desires, and all around a super cool dude. He has a super interesting international background, is equally curious about learning about his guests, and proved to be truly more of a friend than a guide.Thank you Shoto!!! We miss you already.

I love biking, especially when traveling. It's a great way to see a city in its whole, and brings you much closer to it than subways or taxis. Plus, exercise.,I must confess I was a little reticent to roam the streets of such a busy metropolis. We are so glad we hired Shoto-san to be our guide, and let us use a couple of his high-quality cross bikes. I used to live in the suburbs of Tokyo, and I was very impressed with Shoto-san's breadth of knowledge of the city's history, culture, and current events. I learned things I had never heard about on all my previous visits to this country, which is awesome. Plus, Shoto-san is just a nice congenial guy and spending a day with him is very pleasant. My only warning: Tokyo in July is pretty darn hot and humid; you create a breeze while cycling, but it was still a challenge. Not enough to prevent me from doing it again next July, though. :)

What a great way to explore Tokyo and with a well informed and organised guide. Shoto was right on time. The bikes were in good condition. The route we took gave us many varied perspectives of Tokyo. All from street level. Literally!Well done Shoto and Off-Street tours. Highly recommendedMichael

I loved this bike tour for many reasons but the best part of it was our guide Shoto, when it comes to tours the quality of your guide matters a lot. Shoto is a very nice person and our hero after looping back to check the meeting spot and saving the day when my friend and I arrived late! The tour covered a lot of Tokyo's sites and Shoto's insights were invaluable. Great bikes, awesome sights, top quality food and the best guide we meet in Japan.

Some may be concerned about the difficulty of riding around Tokyo on a bike, but Shoto makes it fun and interesting.   I felt like I was part of the adventure rather than a spectator.  We road nice, well maintained bikes to various places, parked the bikes and walked around to observe the details of many places.   He offered historical information at each stop and had visual aides as part of his explanations.   The tour lasted about 5 hours but went by so fast I was ready to do more.   Lunch at the fish market was excellent and conversation was very easy with Shoto a trainee who was learning to lead tours.  Don’t let an opportunity like this get past you.

A fun and unique way to sight see in Tokyo. Shoto has been a wonderful guide as he rode with my young girl and took care of her needs. Highly recommend!! ✌🏻

I love cycling and always try to take a cycling tour when travelling. I’ve been to Tokyo many times but this tour allowed to see some places I never had the opportunity to go to. Shoto’s English is great, there were only myself and an apprentice on the tour and the tour was well paced and interesting. We managed to see a lot over the 4.5 hours that the tour ran for and I felt it was very good value. Bikes were in good condition and the right size. Shoto is knowledgeable and fun. Highly recommend. 

I've been several times in Tokyo before and this bike tour makes this trip the most interesting for me ^^ Many things that I didn't know (even though I read a Japanese history book), before Shoto explained me kindly. Got to know about how to celebrate in Shinsa and temple, and the history about the sumo and how they plays etc. Of course, the most exciting part is just riding bike in the road and pedestrian road, feel the Tokyo atmosphere ^^. thanks a lot, Shoto. all of my friends envy my bike experience.

We had a great day. The bikes enabled us to cover lots of areas to see and experience. From Senso-ji temple, and wonderful shrines to a great market, we got a great feel for Tokyo. Shoto is a great personable guy who speaks English well. He goes the extra mile enthusiastically talking about Japanese culture, food and religion. The bikes rode well, and at all times we felt safe with Shoto at the front and his great English speaking assistant Hitomey at the rear.Shoto and Hitomey were friendly, and fun. What a wonderful experience. It's people who make places and experiences unique. Thanks Shoto!

Shoto picked us up from Asakusa station, we were only two in our group so basically had a private tour. The bikes are brand new and very good, even for tall us (1.78 and 1.89). His English is excellent. Cycling Tokio is easy, it's busy but Tokio drivers are patient and aware of cyclists so we felt perfectly safe. Shoto took many great pictures of us, showed us the rituals at some temples and shrines, took us for an excellent soba lunch which was included. All in all very good value for money. 

We had so much fun! Seeing Tokyo by bike with Shoto and Mai was such a great experience. We learned so much, and visited alot of places that was would never of known to go and see. Its a perfect introduction to the city, it's people, history and customs. We had some great snacks along the way as well! I'm a vegetarian so it can be a bit of a struggle, but they found me lot of market stall treats! I can't recommend this trip highly enough. Thanks Shoto and Mai for a wonderful introduction to an amazing city!!

Took off city tour with Shoto on the 20th of April, 2018. Came off the wrong exit early and Shoto was kind enough to meet me at the exit. Did the tour with 2 other tourist and an intern. We traveled to many places that I wouldn't have visited. Cycling around Tokyo was a bit scary but a wonderful experience as well. If you want to try it do it with Shoto. A well knowledgeable about his surroundings and well spoken man.

We took the off city cycling tour with shoto and it was just amazing! Totally worth the money. The guide shoto is really helpful and makes shure that everyone feels comfortable. We (my cousin and i) were together in the tour with two other couples. The meeting pint was easy to find and he gave everyone a waterbottle, that we could put in to The bicycles. The bycicles were really good and easy to ride. Next of he showed us the lovely parts of the city. He was really patient and answered all our questions. His good english and big knowledge were amazing. Also the lunch was so good and shoto also took good care, that my cousin who is vegetarian could eat something good. We would definetely go again and can recommend this tour to everyone!!

I enjoyed our cycle tour of Tokyo. Shoot, our guide and owner of this small business was very knowledgeable and took us to some great historical sites. He speaks very good English and has a good knowledge of the area.The bikes were all new and in good condition, I would recommend this excursion to anyone with a few hours to spare in Tokyo

If you are to take any bicycle ride in Tokyo, this is the one!! Shoto is the most amazing host, and the bicycles he has are superb (I want one!! it was seriously the smoothest ride I've ever taken). I did the "Good Old Tokyo Tour" and it was perfect. I actually ended being the only one in the tour so it was really a private experience and I felt VIP. Shoto chose the best highlights of old Tokyo and we biked under the cherry trees on the river bank and through interesting streets - Shoto made sure he included in the experience different facets of Tokyo: new, old, exciting, historical, quaint, intimate and energeticFirst of all Shoto was incredibly understanding - I got into a situation at the beginning where I had to come with my luggage because I couldn't find a place to store it at the spot I had initially planned for. He was very patient and helped me find a cafe with luggage storage right next to the meeting spot. Secondly he picked the best itinerary and I actually felt like he had read my mind by including spots had on my to-do-list (there were a couple of unique shrines and a quaint and historic neighborhood that I really wanted to see, and Shoto included them in our tour as if he were a mindreader!). Most importantly I'm super grateful for his thoughtfulness - as I am vegetarian with an unfortunate severe gluten intolerance this is quite an tricky situation in terms of Japanese food, yet Shoto accommodated me by finding the loveliest restaurant with most delicious vegetarian gluten-free meal! The spot was not on any of the lists I had saved and there was no way I could have discovered it on my own. I'm truly grateful for his care!Last but not least Shoto is very knowledgeable was an excellent guide explaining Japanese traditions and culture. He also took many pictures along the way, immortalizing my awesome experience.I had the most excellent bike ride and a lot of fun talking to Shoto and seeing all the exciting and different parts of Tokyo that Shoto included in our adventure - if you ever take a bike tour in Tokyo, Shoto's is truly the best!

If you are going to choose a cycle tour I highly recommend Off Street Cycling Tokyo as this is the one that will take you to the best sites and locations. Shoto was extremely polite and courteous and even came back and found us when we did not make the meeting point in time. This is a very informative tour with some great backstreet locations, excellent choice of food and service with a smile. 

The off street cycling tour is a great way to explore the Streets of Tokyo. The ride was awesome and Shoto was an excellent guide. The best part for me is riding across the bridge along with the view of the river. It was relaxing for me. The lunch at Tsukiji market is great. We also learned a lot about some cultural places in Tokyo. Everything was worth it. Thank you, salamat, arigato Shoto. 

We scheduled this tour because it was our first visit to Tokyo and thought it would be a great way to see the city, and Shoto did not disappoint.  First off, after we scheduled the tour, Shoto actively reached out to us to let us know that it might rain on the day and asked if we wanted to reschedule for another day.  On the day of the tour, my wife and I were the only ones attending so it was a private tour.  During the tour, Shoto was friendly and knowledgeable of the area.  He helped take pictures, explained the Japanese culture, and answered our questions.  He even went out of his way to take us to Tokyo station and helped us purchased the 72 hours subway pass for tourists.  We definitely recommend the tour to anyone!

Thoroughly enjoyed this unique way to get a lay of the land in Tokyo with some easy cycling exercise. Shoto accommodates your personal interests, is informative on cultural practices and speaks excellent English. A very efficient way to see many popular districts in Tokyo - would suggest taking this tour at the beginning of your stay. A great experience - arigato Shoto!

We did this cycling tour on our first day in Tokyo and it was a really great way to see the city. There was only one other person with us on the tour which made it very personal. Shoto was our guide and he had lots of interesting insights. The best part was the fish market. Shoto took us through the actual market where all the retailers were preparing and boxing lots of different kinds of fish. I don't think you would know you could go through this section if you weren't with a guide and it was a lot quieter than the tourist-packed streets surrounding the market. Shoto also arranged a fantastic lunch at the market. The bikes were great - very smooth and easy to rise. Highly recommended tour - thanks Shoto!

I participated in the cultural tour which was a nice experience. We were two participants at the tour which made it very personal and also ensured that Shoto, our guide, had time to answer any questions. He was very attentive and spoke excellent english. The tour was at a very good pace and there was flexibility to stop at sights when we wanted to. He also related interesting stories around Japanese culture and habits throughout the tour.Fredrik

Shoto was very accommodating from start to finish. We met at Asakusabashi station, where he walked me over where to get the bike. He was very attentive to pace. Additionally, I'm a vegetarian and he found a lunch spot with great options for me. The biking was flat with essentially no major climbs, and biking is an unparalleled way to visit Tokyo. He also took incredible photos, and graciously shared them following the ride. He gets five stars from me!

We got to see and experience so many things on this lovely bike tour.  We got a taste of a wide variety of different sides of Tokyo from the calm to the bustling.  Our tour guide/owner Shoto was extremely patient with all of our questions.  He was very knowledgeable and attentive to all of our needs and besides the tour outline threw in a couple of nice extras like showing us a bargain place for ceramics and where the locals like to shop near the fish market.  The bikes were in excellent shape.  Just as a heads up helmets are not included (which is not required in Tokyo), but the tour felt very safe.

The tour was very fun and enjoyable. Shoto was very respectful of our wishes and making sure that we were safe on the trip. We covered a lot of ground but the ride was flat and pretty easy. It was fun to hear more about he Japanese culture from a local.

I hadn't been cycling in a very long time and I enjoyed every second of this tour!  It is a great way to see so many sights in a short amount of time.  It's safe and I loved just being able to follow Shoto around.  He was very knowledgable and answered all of my many questions.  Most of the ride was flat so it was very easy.  The time went by so fast.  We stopped at some local shops and I was able to purchase some great souvenirs that I hadn't seen in other stores.  I highly recommend this tour!

Awesome way to tour around tokyo! Our guide Shoto was very pleasant, accommodating and knowledgeable. Shoto took us to parts of town that are not as touristy and we got to experience the local scene. Definitely the highlight of our trip!  Highly recommended! 😊

Owner Shoto was entertaining, knowledgeable and joy to cycle with, taking us along bike lanes, through parks, side streets and sidewalks. You’ll visit temples, shrines and parks, see the modern skyline, dine at a locals-only restaurant and have time to shop in a quaint trendy area off the beaten path.Shoto studied in San Diego and speaks great English. The bikes are easy and comfortable 7-speeds that offer more than enough range on this mostly flat tour. There are NO potholes and drivers here actually respect cyclists and pedestrians!Sunday is the best day because the broad Akihabara roadway is blocked to vehicle traffic and you’ll walk your bikes along this artery that is normally jammed with traffic down the gauntlet of bright LED lights brilliantly lighting the tall buildings.Lots of opportunities for bathroom breaks in the typically spotless Japanese public washrooms and lots of time for photos and Shoto will happily document your trip.

Shoto took us, a party of four plus another guest, to three izakaya that we would never have had access to otherwise. He was friendly, informative and fun to be around. We all four agreed that we will be long talking about the things we experienced and saw that night. He demystified the alleyways of tiny bars for us, enough that I would be comfortable exploring on my own next time I'm in Tokyo. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough!! It was a night we'll never forget!

Magicaltrip is a bar hopping tour around Shinjuku and Ebisu to izakaya bars with a small group of 6 with an experienced Japanese guide. Our tour was lucky to have both Shoto, the guide, and Kaho, a guide in training. We had a good amount of time at each bar, and if you want to be adventurous, ask to try whatever the locals would have! Shoto was very knowledgeable, kind and helpful, and my friend and I were lucky to have Kaho along who we had some great conversations with. It is simply amazing stepping from modern Tokyo into old Tokyo by walking down a lane way - something we probably wouldn’t have done on our own as it’s not really a touristy spot and you might not find an English menu! I am still dreaming about that fresh sashimi I had in Shinjuku! Go early in your trip if you can, so you can go back on your own later and try a different bar in the alleys! Shoto was an excellent guide. He spoke good english, knew Tokyo super well and was a pleasure to spend the day with. He showed me many sights I would never have seen on my own. The bikes were good quality and traffic was light in east Tokyo, so I never felt unsafe. Highly recommended!

If you want to experience the real nightlife of Tokyo this is the tour to do. Our group sat in small Japanese bars where also locals go drinking and our guide Shoto advises us on drinks, food and helped us with ordering. A great and really fun night! 

Lots of fun, very safe, excellent bikes, perfect weather and our guide, Shoto was fantastic! He was extremely informative and willing to adjust destinations to suit our interests. All up a perfect way to see Tokyo- highly reccommend!

I had an amazing experience of the bar hopping tour. Shoto, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable. The tour took us through back alleys, hidden bars and quirky eating places. I'd highly recommend the tour if you're keen to go off the beaten track, and find something different!

My fiancé and I️ did this tour on our second night in Tokyo . We had the best time ! Our guide , Shoto, was wonderful, very easy going  and made us feel very comfortable . Shoto took us to parts of Tokyo we would have never have seen otherwise . The bars he took us to were awesome!! Truly felt like a fun night out with friends . I️ could not recommend this tour enough !! 

Tokyo has a ton of bars, so I'm not sure why there aren't more bar hopping tours to be found.  This one was great value with a great tour guide - Shoto.  We went to 3 divey spots that were small, cramped, and oh so Tokyo.  I really enjoyed going as I would not have bothered to go on my own and would probably just walk by instead.  Fun evening!

Great experience with three awesome local guides, Shoto, Shiori and Kodai. Way more to this than just ‘bar hopping’... fantastic food, drink and atmosphere and an opportunity to learn a huge amount about local customs, and the best way to enjoy Sake at some very cool tucked-away places that you wouldn’t find without some local knowledge!Highly recommended for your next trip to Tokyo. :)

5 hours feels like 3 and 3 hours feels like 1.Thanks to Shoto, I was able to see parts of Tokyo I never knew existed, from the exotic fish market to the stage of a sumo wrestler, this is the best way to see japan. Most of the area is flat so not difficult at all. Heaps better than plugging in a gps or rushing around in a big group.You will also come across awesome photo moments....like a robot dragon Highly recommended. 

My guide Shoto was amazing, very happy all the time, good English and taught me many things.Eating, drinking and learning Japanese was not the only thing on the table, Shoto managed to combine and double our group size twice (they probably saw all the fun we were having) with the locals who were eating around us and it turned into an amazing night. Highly recommended 

Shoto was a superstar! Great night and a wonderful peek into the secret back streets of Tokyo. Amazing places with incredible food and atmosphere. Ideal for a public crawl type night. We did a tour with Shoto and loved it. Great way to explore Tokyo and Shoto was a great guide. We explored areas we never would have made it to on our own and loved the alternative perspective that we got on the city by cycling through the streets. Definitely recommend! 

My dad and I were looking for some help finding some good places to eat and drink. We're so glad we decided to do this tour as our guide Shoto was great!! The Izakaya's were fantastic and the local knowledge and help with translation was much appreciated. Thank you Shoto!! 

I met Shoto at the train station and we went to his house to get the bikes. The bikes used are very new and very easy to ride. Shoto showed us around Tokyo, we went to several shrines and he taught us how to pray the Shinto way. Lunch was in a place I would never have found on my own, and the cold soba noodles were delicious. We spent time in Yanaka, which is one of the few areas of Tokyo that was spared from bombing in WWII. It's Tokyo's most traditional district and is home to artisans, temples, winding lanes and some great restaurants. Highly recommend this tour, cycling in Tokyo was easy, safe and flat. Shoyo is a wonderful and friendly guide and I wish him well with his new business.

I was on a 12 hour layover in Narita and decided to do the 4 1/2 hour good old Tokyo cycling tour and had a really great time. Shoto at Off-Street is a great guy and took me to all the main sights. The lunch and snacks along the way were delicious! I will be booking another tour with them the next time I'm in Tokyo.

A great way to see Tokyo. Shoto is a fantastic guide. New bicycles and safe to drive. Nice lunch and water and snacks. You  are going to Senso-ji Tempel, old street and modern Tokyo. A park and more sights. You must do this. Thanks Shoto to see Tokyo this way 

My wife and I booked a tour on the website. Shoto met us at the metro stop and we walked to his shop to get our bikes.  We had a great time touring around Tokyo and Shoto was a great guide highlighting points of historical sites and aspects of Japanese culture.  I would definitely recommend this tour!

I'm not into a cycling myself because it's really hot in Thailand so you don't want to go out cycling much but in Tokyo, on October the weather is not that hot for me so I decided to look for Cycling rental. Shoto, the guide knows a lot of interesting places that if its just me I wouldn't discover it by my self.And what is great about biking? You can go faster than walking, not tiring as walking and cover more areas. Forget the car rental if you want to fully explore not spend time trying to figure it out how to use the rental car parking services... so this cycling tour is the best thing you need to get one on your exploring trip here and don't forget to invite Shoto to grab some beer afterward!

This was my first time biking in Tokyo, and it was a real pleasant one. Shotto showed us the best of one of the most interesting areas in Tokyo, from the extravaganza of the  game /manga animé world in Akiabara to the old and meditative temples and shrines. With had a great lunch in one of the old school places in Asakusa, and we still had time to enjoy the river, the park and an old market. The bike ride was pleasant, and the bikes are really top quality. This is a must to do if you are in Tokyo.

We had a superb Saturday night with Henry and Shoto taking us to different Izakayas across Shinjuku and Ebisu. They ensured that we were a  part of the local vibe in each place. They even ensured that we had some specific types of food (per our dietary request). They are very friendly  and great fun - anyone interested in being part of the Tokyo nightlife as the Japanese do it must try this !

We booked this tour before our visit, for our first night in Tokyo (deciding it would help us get over our jet lag!).  What a wonderful bar hoping and food tasting introduction to Tokyo.Our guide, Shoto, met us near Shinjuku Station and took us to 3 tiny street restaurants in total.  All tiny and hidden and places we probably wouldn’t have been brave enough to go on our own.There are different packages you can book.  We chose the one where you split the bill equally with your guide paying their own share.We  enjoyed trying new food and drink (the plum wine with soda was something I hadn’t ever tried before!).  Reservations had been made in all 3 restaurants, and we even got the train to the last one which gave us a taste of Japanese transport.  Shoto guided us back to Shinjuku at the end.Good food.  Good company and interesting conversation (Shoto had superb English!).  Would definitely recommend.

Shoto was a fantastic host and tour guide - the perfect way to pass the day in Tokyo. The tour was safe, fun, evenly paced, and featured some really great food as a mid-day snack. Highlights: Shoto's information and the Shrine Garden.

This was a unique and interesting way to see Tokyo. I highly recommend it to anyone with half a day or a day to spare. The tour guide was excellent. I was shown a range of sights I would never have known or seen without him and the bicycle. I am not the most experienced cyclist but he always made sure I was comfortable with the pace. I am quite the foodie so highlights of the trip were the delicious Japanese lunch and the must-try traditional sweets at the end. Thanks for the fun, Shoto and Off-street Cycling! We did a cycling tour with Shoto through Tokyo. It was really nice!Cycling is a great way to see Tokyo! And Shoto is a super kind and knowledgeable guy. Despite the fact that we had the fortune of meeting up with a Typhoon in Tokyo, Shoto and Masa made our trip great again!We had to adapt the bike tour into a walking tour, but we had a great day traversing through the back alleys of Tokyo.

Shoto is a great guide. I was able to see Tokyo in the most amazing way. His tour covers historic sites and temples, as well, hidden gardens and squares in the city. A truly unique way to take in the rich history and experience local culture. Shoto was also nice enough to take me to a local shopping area, which made it even more special. In the end, highly recommended, even if you have just one day in Tokyo.

Firstly, I am not one for normally leaving reviews but my experience was incredible so I could not leave here without writing one! I came to Tokyo for work, but had a few extra nights to explore this city on my own. I was a bit overwhelmed with what to do at night on my own but I came across this tour on Trip Advisor and thought why not?! It was the best decision ever! You start the tour in Shinjuku where your guide will meet you. You are then taken to a few local backstreet food places where you will try some freshly cooked local cuisine and drinks. You get an insight to see the “old japan” and honestly I would have never of gone here should I not have had a tour guide/translator with me. The food was incredible and I cannot stress enough that the bbq seafood restaurant was superb! You get to cook your own food. Loved it!Then you will head off to Ebisu and again visit another back street place which is filled with tons of busy street food. You would not know about this place unless you were a local as it is hidden behind a door. The atmosphere is amazing and there are so many choices. Plenty of drink and food is involved in this trip so make sure not to fill up in one place. There tour was myself and the tour guide but we made friends along the way which was nice, so dont worry if no one else has booked the tour that evening. We started at 6pm and finished up around midnight.Honestly this was the highlight of my trip and i felt i got to experience Japan in its finest. There are not enough stars to rate the night tour!Lastly, my tour guide Shoto was incredible. English was superb and extremely friendly and easy to talk to. I had a great evening with him and would very much book again if i ever come back! 

My boyfriend and I had such a good time with Magical Trip doing the Bar Hopping tour! We came across an advert online while we were researching things to do in Shinjuku and we are really glad we decided to do it considering it would be the first time we have ever booked a tour guide type-thing anywhere.The tour is very reasonably priced for the hours that you get and is money well spent.The Bar Hopping is great as you get to go to some really local places you might not have found otherwise.  Finding out how the small Izakayas work is useful and gives you the confidence to go back on your own later on!Be aware that you are expected to order little plates of food while you are drinking in the Izakayas as per Japanese drinking culture (which is fine) as long as you don't eat a lot of ramen just before going like we did!    We thought we should line our stomachs beforehand...don't do this and enjoy the soy beans, yakitori and many other options that will be on offer while you drink biru and osake.  For small bars that do not serve food there is usually a seating charge.A big "thank you" to our guide Shoto! Shoto was informative, relaxed and good company for drinking! We would love to drink with you any time and will always remember this part of our trip to Japan! We will also be recommending you to our friends who will visit for the Rugby World Cup.
