This was such an amazing sumo experience! I’ve been to a sumo experience before but this was by far the best one I’ve been too. The staff and sumo wrestlers were so warm, welcoming, kind and knowledgeable. I learned so many new things and ate some delicious chanko at the end! Perfect start to the day.

We loved the experience, between anecdotes and exercises. The sumo wrestlers are very kind and the guides are very experienced.

Super fun and cool experience. Very personal and fun and also very knowledgeable. Highly recommended. Our guide Jim was very good!

Jim was great! So much fun. We learned all about sumo and got to train with the wrestlers.

Great experience learning about sumo and the life of a wrestler. Jim was a great host

One of my favorite experiences in Japan! We ended up being the only visitors so had plenty of time with the sumos and engaging with Japanese sumo culture! Took some some great souvenirs that came with the price, and had the chance to get more! Shoutout to Jim (because it was great!) and our sumo guides, Kou and Shima!

Such a great time! Our trainers were friendly and funny. We got to participate in the practice, ask questions and the food was phenomenal. The best part is Jim waited in us when we got lost on the train and helped us catch the train back. Would totally recommend!

Jim was an excellent guide and taught us great facts about sumo wrestling. Each family member got to participate in the fun and wrestle with the pros. Thank you, Jim!

Jim and the wrestlers made sure we had a great time! Would recommend during your time in Japan.

Really enjoyable. Jim was a great tour guide. And the sumo wrestlers were great fun. Best to participate too.

Really fun and informative tour. The wrestlers were great and so was Jim our tour guide.

Jim (our tour guide) was awesome. So energetic both in his story and history telling as well as his appetite for exercise (we walked over 6 miles!). Great, great trip; I don’t know how we would’ve found our way to the four different shrines and two temples without him. We got to enjoy the historic sites and the beautiful nature trails in between, couldn’t have had better weather. We also got to enjoy the town and streets of Kamakura itself, some small quiet neighborhoods only to be interrupted with a bustling busy shopping street(s). Overall, I’d recommend this trip both for our wonderful time spent with Jim himself as well as the beauty and adventure of Kamakura!

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic day with Jim, our tour guide, in Kamakura. First of all Jim was very accommodating as we were running late for our tour and he very kindly waited for us. The walk to the different shrines and temples was stunning, he even took us on a little hike! He explained the history of each site and taught us how to properly say a prayer at each site. He finished the tour with a walk down the main shopping street in Kamakura and explained the different shops and even bought us some treats. Overall a great day, thank you Jim!

I booked a solo trip to the Kamakura Historical Walking Tour with the Great Buddha on April 21st, and was expecting a small group experience of up to 7 people. When I arrived that morning, everyone else was a no-show, leaving just me and my guide Hajime (Jim) for what became an unforgettable experience.Because it was just the two of us, we were able to move at a much faster pace and visit many more locations than a standard group tour would typically cover, and were able to explore lesser known areas. Jim's knowledge of the area's history goes far beyond what any guidebook could offer, and his storytelling is natural and engaging. We also had a really delicious lunch at a tiny local spot that perfectly captured the kind of authentic experience you hope for when traveling in Japan. Our conversations flowed easily throughout the day, and it genuinely felt less like a tour and more like exploring Kamakura with a knowledgeable local friend. Jim provided such an amazing and wholesome experience. I would highly recommend him and this tour. Jim if you're reading this, thank you once again!

Jim and Alice are very engaged and good at explaining how sumo has been through time.

Good and very exciting. Had a lot of fun in the ring with real sumo wrestlers. Our guides, Jim and Marie were also really good.

Great sumo experience for the entire family!!

We had a great time! Jim and Mary did a fantastic job explaining sumo traditions, as well as the modern sumo setup. And the wrestlers were the absolute stars of the show. Very patient with showing us the various exercises, and the practice battles were so much fun for our entire family! Could not recommend them enough

The Magical Trip Sumo experience was so amazing! We had fun learning about sumo history and got to practice and fight them. The food was very good and the sumo wrestlers were very kind and happy to chat with us. Jim was a great tour guide. Highly recommend!

Jim was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time with him on the sumo tour!

Taken care of each step of the way by our host Jim. The Wrestlers were friendly and professional with great examples of the sport. Plenty crowd participation if you’re keen to give Sumo a go.

Incredible and interactive experience. Jim (the guide) was very informative and funny. I would absolutely recommend this to everyone and would be very excited to bring new friends on future trips!

Our guide, Jim, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyed learning and watching Sumo wrestling. Jim was very accommodating to a small group who were late to our join us which was very kind of him. Highly recommended to learn some of Japan’s sporting culture.

Jim was great he gave us a wonderful tour of the shrines and temples. He took us to climb the Daibotsu Buddha. He shared stories about the dieties and the local history. We saw shrines that we would have otherwise missed. He is a very energetic walker and we had to remind him that we were not as fit as he is.

Loved the tour. Jim was great. Informative and saw a lot in a short amount of time. He did a great job accommodating a variety of people, questions and walking abilities

This was an amazing experience. Jim, Yuuki, and Kiichi made this fun and exciting. Highly recommended. Highlight of our vacation so far!!

Yuuki Kiichi and Jim were fantastic and so funny. One of my favorite experiences in Japan. They’re all great and the experience is magical.

Jim met us promptly at the station. Transportation was smooth, information was insightful, participation is a must and the food was delicious. I would recommend.

Amazing tour, great explanation and we even got a chance to practice. The meal was also really good. Be aware of bringing cash to be able to buy great souvenirs !

Jim the guide and both our Sumo wrestlers were amazing!! Would highly recommend this tour. Wonderful experience from start to finish.

Jim was an exceptional guide for our private tour of Kamakura. His English was excellent—clear and easy to understand—and his explanations were always precise and incredibly informative. He has a deep knowledge of Kamakura's history and culture, which truly brought the area to life. Jim really made our trip memorable and genuinely interesting. Highly recommend!Arigatō gozaimasu!

It's been great. Jim-San was a super guide. The sumos were also very friendly (and strong). It was interesting and interactive👌🔥

Very fun experience! Everyone was very kind and informative.Their team was actively making the entire experience entertaining and educational. They were very accommodating as well, my husband had hurt his back several weeks before the this tour but was still able to participate and have fun.Thank you very much Jim, Tossy, Ko, and Yuki!

Excellent experience, left with a new appreciation for the athleticism of the sumo wrestlers. Our tour guide, Jim , was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We loved our sumo wrestlers, so good at their sport and very friendly and entertaining.

Very interesting and funny experience.Enjoyed the time spent with Jim and Meg and sumo fightes. Really appreciated the sumo practice and the food. Really suggested for people looking for an experience in English

Jim and Marie helped us learn, observe, and participate in Japanese sumo culture. It was a fantastic time and I highly recommend it! We are able to take back many memories and keepsakes of this experience!

Jim and Mayo were extremely knowledgeable and great guides! It was hands down the best experience I had in Japan and highly recommend you do it!

Jim was a fantastic tour guide. This experience was one of the best things I have done and highly recommend it. My cheeks hurt from smiling so much. So fun!

I had a great time. Jim and Mayu were the best hosts. Our two retired sumo wrestlers Nishiki and Yuki were very entertaining and informative. I was unable to participate due to a knee injury. A fantastic insight into sumo culture. Highly recommended.

During our recent trip to Japan, my brothers and I had the chance to participate in the Tokyo Sumo Experience in Kawasaki. Jim was our guide, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped in, the staff were welcoming, enthusiastic, and deeply passionate about sharing the rich culture of sumo. We learned about sumo traditions, etiquette, and techniques—and then got to step into the ring ourselves! Practicing with real sumo wrestlers was both hilarious and humbling, and the highlight was definitely the moment we each got to challenge them to a matchIt wasn’t just fun—it was meaningful. The wrestlers took time to explain the history and significance of sumo, answered questions, and made sure everyone felt involved regardless of age or fitness level. We left with amazing photos, sore muscles, and a newfound appreciation for the sport.

The sumo experience was amazing! Kou and Nishiki were amazing and they made the experience fun and interesting! Our guides Jim and Mayu were very helpful and great with everything. We not only have the opportunity to train and wrestle with Kou or Nishiki but we also got to eat hotpot (really amazing and delicious!).I would recommend anyone interested in learning and participating in a Sumo experience to book with Magical Trip.

A “must do” on your trip to Tokyo! Jim & Mayu were our guides to the sumo stables. They taught us all about the origin of Sumo and how the games are played today. It was a very intimate setting with two sumo wrestlers, Nishiku & Tsubomi…not only were they incredibly athletic but hilarious as well! Our entire family loved practicing & wrestling with them! 5 out of 5 for sure! Dont miss this amazing opportunity!

Very thoughtful organizers and explanations provided very relevant. Friendly and accommodating wrestlers. We had a lot of fun.

It was way better than I expected! Jim, the host, spoke great english and was very knowledgeable about sumo and taught us so much about it. The interactive part in which my son and I were able to get in the circle and actually wrestle with the sumos was an unforgettable experience. We went on a lot of tours in Japan and this was my son’s favorite thing we did! Highly recommend!

This was an amazing experience!! The hospitality and the knowledge we were given was so amazing! Jim and Marie were great. The wrestlers were so friendly! We were able to do exercises and match with the wrestlers! Will recommend! 10/10

Jim, Marie and team were amazing!! We had an amazing time. We were a party of 10. Perfect for all ages. It was fun and as interactive as you want it to be. I would recommend this experience to anybody visiting Japan.

Tour was incredibly entertaining and informative. It is far more engaging and interactive than we ever expected. Jim, Marie and the Sumo wrestlers were warm and funny. The lunch was delicious! Would highly recommend as a must for anyone visiting Tokyo!!

We had so much fun! Jim and Marie were kind and answered all our questions generously. Our sumo wrestlers were AMAZING - very funny and kind and patient. Definitely would recommend to a friend!

Jim was an amazing guide! He was very attentive and accommodating, allowing us some options to customize our day. Exactly what we had hoped fit with this private tour. His insight and background on places we visited were the best. Thanks for an amazing day, filled with culture, history, and fun-filled variety! Would use Jim again in a heartbeat! If you’re thinking about this tour, I would highly recommend it.

We really enjoyed this experience. It was fun, engaging, and surprisingly educational! We learned a lot about sumo, like how many stables there are, what it takes to become a wrestler, the different types of wrestlers, how the rankings work, and more. Watching the wrestlers train up close was amazing. They're so flexible, which was really impressive given their size!Jim-san was amazing!!!!! He speaks fluent English and was super engaging throughout the tour, which made everything even more enjoyable. He also assisted us in getting a cab from the stable to the train station. The only thing we missed was the chanko-nabe lunch since we had to head to our next appointment. But overall, we’d definitely recommend this experience — it felt super authentic and was a great way to learn more about sumo culture.

It was a great experience! The guides Marie and Jim were very kind, teaching us a lot about sumoto culture. The guides will pick you up at the station to take you to the training house. The sumotori were also very friendly.

Everything was good organized and the were all friendly. We had fun the whole time and i know many guy's think about wnting to wrestle a sumo and thats just what i did two times and man was it fun (the are a hell of a lot stronger then i thought) and the 2 sumo's were really friendly and funny aswell so its a 10/10 for me and jim the man who picked us up at the train station is a really nice man we had to wait for some others to show up so we chatted a bit and he just nice a honest. Hell the whole country i experienced as nice and friendly so japan was a dream to go once but now i feel like i have to go back again someday, and might book this one again if we stay close by.

This was a really fun great experience. The host Jim son had really good English and was very good at explaining everything. Anyone can ask questions any time. You get to meet a few wrestlers and do several practice moves and even wrestle. It's very interactive and engaging with lots of sumo info. Plus you watch some tournaments on a large screen.

We had an amazing experience, it was very good fun and informative. The wrestlers were very kind and sporting and Jim was a great host

Beautiful experience. Maximum availability and friendliness. The nice but professional fighters. The good food and the explainer was very good. Definitely an experience to do in Japan.

Really good fun, informative and entertaining. Highly recommend to any traveller. The guides and wrestlers were friendly and put on a great show

Jim was well organised and shared so much wonderful, succinct and relevant information with us. Having a chance to be involved was wonderful as a female. Being plus sized, he offered all sorts of sizing in the clothes so felt super comfortable! The wrestlers made us feel so welcomed and they were funny!! Highly highly recommend this hands on experience!

Fantastic sumo experience - getting to don the loincloth and get in the ring was great.Learning the history and structure of sumo was very interesting - good mix of talking and video footage. Our guides were friendly and enthusiastic and very helpful. The wrestlers were a lot of fun and knew how to make the session fun for everyone.Sitting down to share lunch is also a great ideaStrongly recommend joining in the training and having a go!

We arrived 40 minutes early to shin-Kawasaki station. Jim was already there. We went by car to the sumo stable where we were told the history and origins of sumo. Jim then showed us the pyramid of levels the sumos must go through to reach grand champion status. The basic rules were explained then we were given the option of participating in some sumo training with 2 retired sumo wrestlers. I would definitely recommend doing the training as part of the experience, it was so much fun and a real learning experience. We finished with lunch which was cooked by the sumos.

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Jim was a great host, very informative and so helpful with my two young boys! The lunch was such a wonderful experience to have with the two sumo wrestlers. Would definitely recommend!

Had a wonderful guide named Jim who spoke English very fluently and made the time very meaningful throughout. The tour itself began from Shin Kawasaki Station which was both easy to find and small enough to spot our tour guide almost instantly next to the red food stand. After a small journey via car we arrived at the Sumo Stable and were invited to try all the sumo exercises and even participate in a sumo match with ex sumo wrestlers. Fantastic experience all around well worth the cost and time. Please come see - TM

I hadn’t expected much from this tour and worried how my boys (ages 10,12) would be able to sit through a 4hr tour . But this tour turned out to be surprisingly good! The English guide Jim was easy to understand, clear in his explanations, and so hilarious as he took us through the tour. We laughed so much and have gained a much better understanding of the life & culture of sumo. Chanko lunch as so tasty. For our family, this tour was pitched just right - in fact, we felt time had passed too fast! Absolutely no regrets booking this.

We had a wonderful time hosted by JimIt was an engaging and meaningful experience interacting with the sumo wrestlers as well as understanding more of the culture of Sumo. Loved the tasty lunch and the QnA sessions ! My boys loved the sumo wrestling matches too.

This was a blast! Mr.Jim took his time to explain the history of sumo, the ranking and the daily life of a sumo wrestler. Then you get to practice with the sumo wrestlers, women are able to do this as they provide a tshirt and shorts for men and women. This was such a cool experience to do!

Jim and company took us into the world of sumo, from life style, training, meals to preparing for competitive matches. We were visited by two professional sumo wrestlers who helped us train, eat and do a practice match. Highly recommended for anyone interested in sumo or looking for a fun family activity!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this walking tour but after it was a really great experience. I ended up being the only one there as one other person didn't show up so I essentially got a private tour which was worth the price! Jim my guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything with great detail. I learned so much. I would definitely recommend this tour. Make sure to bring good shoes and the right clothes for the weather as it was a lot of walking and going to and from each shrine/temple.

It is absolutely worth every penny in my opinion, and it will surely stand out as one of the highlights of my entire time in Japan. Met many great people and had so much fun. Jim and Rai were excellent guides throughout the entire experience.

A very enjoyable, friendly, knowledgeable day. Visited many exciting places. Would highly recommend this tour when you visit KAMAKURA.

Very fun family experience with Jim and his team! His assistant Fuji went to pick us up at the Shin Kawasaki station, where a driver took us all to the Sumo stable. Jim explained (with pictures and videos), the history and rules of sumo, the different levels in the sumo pyramid, and the typical training schedule that wrestlers undergo. Two recently retired wrestlers showed us their practice drills, which we tried ourselves, and we even had to opportunity to challenge them for a one-round bout (they were very gentle however as they clearly could’ve crushed us in 5 seconds). We then tasted a typical sumo wrestler lunch (including one of the best-tasting soups I have had in Japan so far; sumo wrestlers are famoud for their cooking skills), during which we had the opportunity to ask wrestlers plenty of questions. We received gifts (T-shirt + ink handprint of one of the wrestlers), pictures, etc. I highly recommend the experience to understand better the sumo wrestling culture. Jim, Fuji, the wrestlers and the rest of the team were all very friendly.

We had a fabulous morning at the Sumo experience with Jim and his team and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to understand about Sumos and their training regime. We had a great time learning some of the sumo moves ourselves, followed by a delicious hotpot lunch. It is a very interactive experience, and a lot of fun. My husband and I went together with my parents.

It’s a very authentic and special experience. My wife and I enjoyed the practice and the food here. Jim and Fuji are nice, and we had a lot of fun.

Very engaging, enlightening and great insight into the sumo culture. These guys are wonderful hosts and everything was authentic from the word go. A must do in Japan!!

A wonderful experience. Our host Jim and the sumo wrestlers were amazing. A ton of fun learning how to be a sumo wrestler and a delicious lunch too. Five stars.

Best ever experience for the family. So much fun and laughter as we all got the opportunity to wrestle. Our host was so accommodating and wrestlers very kind. Could not recommend more highly.

I enjoyed when we had a training session with the sumos and battling them. Good insight into the life of a sumo! Recommend joining the tour!

Incredible experience. Super fun and you even get to wrestle the sumos. You won’t regret it!! I would for sure go back and take my kids!

This tour was one of the highlights of our visit to Japan. An awesome experience with very friendly and helpful hosts.
Delicious lunch!

This was a fantastic experience for our family. It was fun and informative and interactive. The meal was delicious as well. We had a great time there and would recommend it to families and groups of friends.

What an incredible day this was, perfectly balanced between learning aspects of the sport and art of sumo wrestling, while also being able to experience (if you choose!) aspects of the training and matches. Lunch was delicious and our hosts knowledgeable, kind and hilarious. This was entertainment at its best! Book this tour - you will not regret it!

Fantastic trip. Jim and Kenji were great tour guides. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to Japan and shouldn’t be missed.

The Authentic Sumo Experience in Tokyo was the best tour I’ve taken in Japan.

Jim the tour guide couldn’t have been more helpful, he was full of knowledge and answered all of our questions and was an all round great guy.

The tour itself was very educational and it was an honour to get to train, wrestle, eat and chat with the Sumo wrestlers themselves who were all really friendly and welcoming.

I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants a true Japanese experience you really won’t regret it.

A big thank you to Jim and all the guys

Hi had a great time here. Definitely recommend it as a fun experience in Tokyo. The lunch we had too was delicious. Very authentic experience

Our best experience during a trip to Japan!

We were looking for options to make our 2-week trip to Japan even more attractive and to experience different aspects of the country's culture. "Authentic Sumo Experience in Tokyo : Enter the Sanctuary" was our best hit! Serioulsy.

The hosts did great to keep our focus and attention. I had a very positive feeling they were continuously asking themselves, "What else can we do to help our guest?" during the whole event.

A lot has happened. We got some basic information about Sumo history and rules, we could watch or even try some Sumo exercises. We were involved in meal preparation and could share it all together. We wore kimonos, took a lot of pictures, and received some meaningful souvenirs. And what was very important we could talk to real Japanese. The atmosphere of the event was very special!

We were not bored for even a minute during almost 4-hour event, including our kids (15 and 11). If you have kids, you know it is not an easy thing.

Jim and KAZ: We really appreciate your engagement, hospitality, and the time we spent with you.

Thank you!

Incredible experience. Everyone was so lovely and it was very family friendly and engaging. Highly recommend.

This is the second time we are doing this experience because my 10-year old son loved it so much (and so did I!!!)! It is such an incredible experience and the sumos are so welcoming and friendly and so forthcoming with talking and sharing their experiences. I cannot recommend this more!

This tour was both informative and so, so fun! Jim was amazing and kind, and the two retired sumo wrestlers offered a uniquely humorous view into the world of sumo. Would definitely recommend!

Best experience by far in Tokyo! We learned about the history of sumo and had so much fun getting to try it ourselves! The food was absolutely delicious and gave us a glimpse of daily life of sumo wrestling. The guides/staff were all so friendly and welcoming and my son had such a good time he wants to do it again.

Jim was well versed in Sumo, friendly and fun. The event was lively, entertaining and very enjoyable. Much better than expected, we had a great time. Highly recommended if you want to understand Sumo culture and understand what life is like for the Sumo wrestlers. Arigato Gozaimas!

My family had a great time in this event, My husband and daughter did the practice and the sumo. They have so much fun. It is a very fun event to just watch. You are not obligated to do. This really a Japanese experience.

Had a great time experiencing first hand what sumo wrestlers do in their day today life’s. Was fun to dress up as a sumo wrestler and experience going up against one. My 10 and 5 year old enjoyed the whole experience.

The session was interesting, informative and fun. Lunch was delicious. The wrestlers and host were kind. We enjoyed ourselves and learn a lot about Sumo.

My favorite tour while in Japan by far! My guide was knowledgeable and friendly, we even stopped to get matcha and try some street food.Be ready for lots of walking and stairs, I clocked 15k steps!

Highlight of my week in Japan!!! The experience of touring the various shrines and temples in the Kamakura was wonderful in large part to Jim, my guide for the day. He provided insightful knowledge at each location, carefully providing the cultural information to make this a day I will never forget. This is a must do tour and Jim is a top notch guide!!!

Our family absolutely loved this tour and it was our favourite of all our tours. Aside from the beautiful places that our tour guide Jim took us to, it was because of Jim himself. He was especially kind, knowledgeable, patient and inspiring. This tour exceeded our expectations and we all thank Jim so much!

Amazing morning so much fun Learned so much and sumo wrestling is a great sport We really enjoyed the lunch so delicious. and getting to know Jim and the 2 wrestlers Lots of great photos and souvenir have print Definitely recommend this trip
