Shopping in Shibuya! Special Fashion Buildings & Best Shops by Genre 2026

Shibuya Shopping Published: Apr 2, 2026
Updated: Apr 3, 2026

Since moving to a Shibuya city in 2024, I've been discovering many spots I
proudly recommend to tourists. I updated this article in January 2026 to incorporate my findings from this research, along with the latest information for 2026.

Another reason for updating the article is the growing interest in tours that allow visitors to safely and deeply experience Shibuya's nightlife. Because Shibuya is a city that continues to develop at a dizzying pace and in complex ways, tourists visiting for the first time find it extremely difficult to discover the truly excellent spots beloved by locals.

This is why food tours led by knowledgeable local guides who know Shibuya inside and out have been gaining popularity, as they take visitors through Shibuya's maze of izakaya establishments.

In fact, Magical Trip's tour, which ranked #1 among all tours on Tripadvisor, has been receiving numerous applications.

If you want to experience authentic izakayas beloved by Shibuya locals, try the "Shibuya Bar Hopping Night Tour in Tokyo," which is ranked #2 on Magical Trip. A knowledgeable local guide who knows Shibuya inside and out will take you to spots where you can enjoy genuine Japanese cuisine.

And if you want to make the most of Tokyo's nightlife, you absolutely must join the "Tokyo Bar Hopping Night Tour in Shinjuku," which is rated #1 on Tripadvisor. You can safely explore Shinjuku's historic retro drinking districts and Kabukicho, the largest entertainment district in Asia, with an expert guide who knows Shinjuku thoroughly.

We hope you'll have a wonderful time experiencing everything Shibuya has to offer by joining a Magical Trip tour!

Introduction

Shibuya, home to the Scramble Crossing, said to be the world's busiest intersection, is known as one of Tokyo's premier youth districts, visited by millions of people daily. Recently, it has also gained attention as the setting for popular anime.

As a trendsetter, Shibuya has long been equipped with numerous fashion buildings, making it an ideal environment for shopping. Particularly in the 90s, the term "Shibuya-kei fashion" was born, and Japan's unique “gyaru fashion” and men's ”gyaru fashion” also originated from Shibuya.

Music shops favored by these groups also gathered, establishing Shibuya's aspect as a music town. Recently, shops for subcultures such as anime and games have also appeared and gained popularity.

In this article,I'll introduce representative shopping spots in Shibuya. There are also some miscellaneous goods stores that I, a shopping enthusiast, often visit, making it enjoyable for more than just young people.

Let's spend a day in Shibuya, shopping during the day and then experiencing Shibuya's nightlife at izakayas and bars.

Shibuya Offers a Wide Variety of Commercial Facilities and Shopping Destinations

Shibuya is known as a premier shopping district, offering a wide variety of commercial facilities and shopping destinations across diverse genres.

First, there are several large-scale commercial complexes around Shibuya Station. The area around the station has undergone major redevelopment in recent years, and is now home to luxurious commercial facilities that represent Tokyo, including the 47-story Shibuya Scramble Square.

Throughout the streets of Shibuya, you'll also find famous shopping malls beloved as Shibuya landmarks, such as Shibuya Parco and Shibuya 109.

One of the great appeals of Shibuya shopping is that in addition to large building-style commercial facilities, there are also many charming street-level shops. In this guide, we'll introduce various commercial facilities and shopping destinations, categorized into: commercial complexes, fashion, pop culture (including anime), sundries, and music-related shops.

Shibuya Icons! 7 Commercial Complexes Perfect for Shopping

Shibuya has many large commercial complexes, particularly concentrated around the station. At any of these facilities, you can enjoy comprehensive shopping for fashion, sundries, books, food, and more. Some facilities also feature restaurants, cafes, movie theaters, and art spaces.

Let's start by introducing seven famous commercial complexes that serve as icons of Shibuya shopping.

Shibuya Scramble Square

Shibuya Scramble Square

Shibuya Scramble Square is a large commercial complex located directly above Shibuya Station. It houses numerous boutiques, gift shops, restaurants, and SHIBUYA SKY—an observation facility on the 47th floor where you can enjoy spectacular views of Tokyo. It has become known as Shibuya's new landmark.

Shibuya Scramble Square opened with great fanfare in 2019, and the entire building exudes an upscale, modern atmosphere. Floors 1 through 5 feature high-end brand boutiques and more, allowing you to experience the cutting-edge atmosphere.

For travelers, I personally recommend the food hall in the basement. You can find distinctive food gifts from all over Japan and high-quality deli items. On the 10th floor, there's also the famous chain store Tokyu Hands, where you can purchase various Japanese-made sundries—another perfect spot for buying souvenirs from your Japan trip.

Since it's directly connected to Shibuya Station, you can easily access it from the station.

Shibuya Parco

Shibuya Parco

Shibuya Parco is a commercial facility featuring boutiques geared toward young people. As a landmark of Shibuya—the town of youth—it has been beloved as a famous spot for many years.

Shibuya Parco reopened after renovation in 2019 and now houses boutiques featuring the casual street fashion and luxury fashion that symbolize Shibuya.

In recent years, pop culture-related shops have also been attracting attention, including Nintendo TOKYO and JUMP SHOP, where you can buy merchandise from popular manga. Whenever I visit, it's always bustling with young people who love pop culture and tourists from overseas.

If you're interested in both cutting-edge fashion and pop culture, be sure to stop by Shibuya Parco for your Shibuya shopping experience.

MIYASHITA PARK is a park located along Jingu-dori Street in Shibuya. Famous as a gathering spot for young people, it has long been synonymous with Shibuya. It underwent a major renovation in 2020 and reopened as a commercial complex where you can enjoy both a park and shopping.

MIYASHITA PARK is a four-story building that combines a park with an upscale commercial facility. The shopping floors feature high-end brand boutiques and stylish select shops offering the latest Tokyo trend items. Restaurants and cafes are also available.

The rooftop park features a spacious lawn area, as well as a sand court for beach volleyball and a skateboard area.

My recommendation is to enjoy shopping and then take a drink to-go from a cafe and relax on the lawn area.

Shibuya MODI

Shibuya MODI

Shibuya MODI is a commercial facility located on Koen-dori Street in Shibuya. It's near the previously introduced Shibuya Parco and is about a 5-minute walk from Shibuya Station.

Shibuya MODI features a stylish entrance overflowing with greenery, and offers an excellent selection of boutiques for young women as well as anime-related shops.

Popular anime pop-up stores frequently open here, and many anime events are held. I often visit for exhibitions of my favorite anime and manga works.

There's also a large HMV bookstore branch that stocks manga and idol-related books. The 8th floor has karaoke, making this a commercial facility where you can fully enjoy Japanese pop culture.

If you love Japanese anime culture, be sure to stop by during your Shibuya shopping trip to check out the events and pop-up stores.

Among the commercial facilities near Shibuya Station, Tokyu Plaza Shibuya has an upscale atmosphere suited for adults. It's the perfect facility for adults to shop or stop by a cafe in the lively Shibuya area.

The rooftop garden on the 17th and 18th floors is a popular spot where you can enjoy beautiful night views of Shibuya for free.

Art-related exhibitions are also held at the event space on the 3rd floor. You can access Tokyu Plaza Shibuya from the west exit of Shibuya Station by crossing the large pedestrian bridges that span the area around the station.

SHIBUYA MARK CITY

SHIBUYA MARK CITY

SHIBUYA MARK CITY is a building-style commercial complex directly connected to Shibuya Station. The lower floors house shopping facilities for fashion and gourmet items, while the upper floors of the East Mall contain a hotel, and the upper floors of the West Mall contain offices.

SHIBUYA MARK CITY is directly connected to the ticket gates of the Keio Line, a train used by many people at Shibuya Station. It's convenient because you can move around without getting wet on rainy days, and the smooth access makes it easy to use.

It offers a variety of shops including fashion-related stores, as well as food, gifts, sundries, bookstores, and restaurants. Many of the shops have a calm atmosphere that isn't too hectic, making them comfortable for adults to use.

For travelers, the hotel on the upper floors is popular as a convenient base for Shibuya sightseeing and Tokyo tourism. The Estacion Cafe inside the hotel, which is also open to non-guests, has a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and is one of my recommended spots.

3 Recommended Shibuya Shopping Spots for Fashion Lovers

Shibuya 109

Shibuya109

Located at the bottom of Dogenzaka, Shibuya 109 is such an iconic shopping building that it's often said, "If you're talking about Shibuya, you're talking about Shibuya 109."

Since the 90s, it has been called the holy land of gyaru fashion, a uniquely Japanese style, and has been an icon of Shibuya. Currently, it's a building with dozens of stores selling ladies' fashion for teenagers. It's recommended for those who want to see Japan's cute & gyaru fashion.

Furthermore, in the 2020s, Shibuya 109 has greatly updated its previous gyaru-oriented direction. Various types of shops have opened one after another, making it enjoyable for a wider range of shoppers.

Shibuya Cat Street is a fashion street located in an alley off Meiji Street, connecting Shibuya and Harajuku. It's a mix of international high-end brand shops, domestic street brand shops, and vintage clothing stores.

It's an area that not only has fashionable clothing shops but also atmospheric cafes. The fusion of luxury brands and the unique street fashion characteristic of Shibuya and Harajuku attracts people with its distinctive atmosphere.

On weekdays, it's usually not very crowded, so I sometimes go there to leisurely stroll and enjoy the stylish atmosphere. It's a recommended place for fashion lovers.

Around Koen-dori Street

The area around Koen-dori Street has been attracting young people since the 90s and is where many Shibuya-born street fashion trends originated. Even today, large commercial facilities and boutiques housing numerous fashion-related shops are concentrated here, making it the perfect area for fashion lovers.

Within the area, you'll find Shibuya MODI mentioned earlier, and nearby is Shibuya Parco, which has always been at the forefront of Shibuya's fashion culture.

This area is also home to flagship stores of famous Japanese apparel brands such as United Arrows and Beams. Both are brands I personally love, and I often stop by these stores.

If you want to experience authentic Tokyo fashion, I highly recommend exploring the Japanese brand shops around Koen-dori Street during your Shibuya shopping adventure.

4 Shibuya Shopping Spots for Anime/Gaming and Pop Culture

Nintendo TOKYO

Nintendo Tokyo
Source: Official Website

This is the official shop of the game company Nintendo, located on the 6th floor of Shibuya Parco. They sell and offer experiences with game consoles and software, and of course, character goods are also available.

Although small in scale, it's a shop that Nintendo fans should definitely check out. On the same floor, there are several game and anime shops including Pokémon Center and CAPCOM STORE TOKYO. There's also a rest area decorated with Nintendo characters on the rooftop.

It's an exciting store for game lovers, but it can get extremely crowded on weekends and holidays, sometimes requiring numbered tickets. Make sure to visit with plenty of time to spare.

Pokémon Center Shibuya

Pokemon Center
Source: Official Website

On the 6th floor of Shibuya Parco is the Pokémon Center Shibuya, a must-see for Pokémon fans worldwide. It's an official shop selling Pokémon game software, cards, plush toys, and other merchandise.

The Shibuya store features a giant Mewtwo object and also offers fashion-forward clothing items like T-shirts. It's always crowded, but visitor satisfaction is high, with tricks to entertain everyone from hardcore Pokémon fans to casual fans.

My personal recommendation is the custom T-shirt where you can choose your favorite character. As there can be quite a queue for creation, it's smoother to visit early in the morning.

ONE PIECE Mugiwara Store

MUGIWARA STORE

ONE PIECE Mugiwara Store is the official store where you can buy official merchandise from the popular manga "ONE PIECE". With an overwhelming number of products, it's an irresistible space for fans.

At the Shibuya store, there's a life-size figure of the popular character Shanks, and you can put on a straw hat and feel like Luffy. There are many other points of interest, including life-size figures of other characters and unique store decorations that recreate the world of the work. It's a store where I tend to linger too.

Like other anime stores, it can get very crowded, and you may need to queue for entry and checkout, so be prepared.

The Disney Store Shibuya Koen-dori is known for its castle-inspired exterior, and the interior monuments and decorations are also elaborate. The spiral staircase with different wallpaper on each floor, monuments of Pinocchio and Toy Story, just walking inside the store is exciting!

The store has three floors from the 1st to the 3rd floor. My favorite is "Wendy's Room" from Peter Pan, which can be seen on the 3rd floor. It's very lovely, so please check it out. The Shibuya store also has Tokyo-exclusive and Shibuya-exclusive goods.

Previously, you could buy Tokyo Disneyland park tickets here, but as of June 2024, this is no longer possible, so please be aware.

3 Shibuya Shopping Spots with Various Genres of Products

MUJI

MUJI
Source: Official Website

There's no better store than MUJI if you're looking for simple, high-quality miscellaneous goods, stationery, and clothing. In Japanese MUJI stores, food products including snacks are also abundant.

High-quality, low-priced snacks are especially recommended. What I particularly want you to see is the "Dagashi" series, which are cheap, common snacks traditionally eaten in Japan. These are uniquely Japanese snacks and perfect as souvenirs.

The Shibuya store spans 6 floors from the 1st basement to the 5th floor of the SEIBU department store. As a large store, it has a rich and easy-to-see product lineup, and the interior is neat and clean. As it's connected to Loft, it might be good to compare and shop at these two different atmosphere miscellaneous goods stores.

There are many unique idea products that you can only find at Loft, and the product lineup is so extensive that you never get tired of looking. It's a store where I often find myself spending hours without realizing it.

Popular among overseas tourists are high-quality Japanese-made stationery, including Zebra ballpoint pens. Additionally, kitchen gadgets useful for Japanese cooking, anime character goods, and cosmetic products are also recommended.

MEGA Don Quijote

Don Quijote is famous for its cramped interior filled with products. True to its MEGA name, the Shibuya store is an 8-story building packed with all kinds of products.

Recently, it has specialized in catering to tourists, with cosmetics, alcohol, snacks, miscellaneous goods, and unique party goods being particularly popular. You can make tax-free purchases at the 8th-floor register by presenting your passport.

While Don Quijote stores exist throughout Tokyo and Japan, each store has different product lineups and discount rates. If you absolutely want to buy your desired product at a low price, it might be worth checking other stores if you have time.

It's bustling with pure music fans, as well as idol, K-POP, and anime fans, with each section thriving.

In February 2024, it reopened after renovation, expanding the classical music section. 30,000 nostalgic vinyl records were also added. Please check out the evolving Tower Records Shibuya.

Also Enjoy Neighboring Shinjuku, Known as the Greatest Entertainment District in the East

Also Enjoy Neighboring Shinjuku

Tripadvisor 2025 no1

If you're visiting Shibuya, we recommend also enjoying neighboring Shinjuku.

Shinjuku, along with Shibuya, is one of Tokyo's representative entertainment districts, and its liveliness is said to be the greatest in the East. The Tokyo Bar Hopping Night Tour in Shinjuku lets you enjoy drinks and gourmet food while visiting three bars and izakayas in Shinjuku with a local guide.

Although both are Tokyo entertainment districts, the modern and energetic Shibuya introduced in this article has a different atmosphere from Shinjuku. Nighttime Shinjuku feels chaotic and might even seem slightly mysterious.

However, with a local guide's assistance, you can safely visit beloved izakaya gems and unique bars frequented by locals.

If you're staying in Tokyo, be sure to experience the nightlife in both Shibuya and Shinjuku to feel the diverse charms of Tokyo.

I've explained about shopping spots in Shibuya. While Shibuya encompasses various cultures, it's not just shopping spots that are abundant - there are also plenty of restaurants. After enjoying shopping, let's savor the nightlife of Shibuya at izakayas and bars.

If you're new to Shibuya and don't know where to go, we recommend Magical Trip's Shibuya Bar Hopping Night Tour in Tokyo. It's a plan where you can enjoy meals and drinks at three bars, focusing on a variety of meat dishes including teppanyaki, meat sushi, and Japanese-style steak.

Shibuya is a city that can't be fully explored in just one day. If you have the chance, visit multiple times and explore all the countless attractive shopping spots and bars!
