One of the highlights of the Rusutsu Resort Christmas Eve Fireworks Festival, "torchlight skiing," is a participatory event for guests. The sight of people skiing while holding torches romantically illuminates the holy night slopes with dimmed lighting, creating a fantastical landscape.

When my friends and I first saw the "torchlight skiing," we were captivated by the gentle, slowly swaying torchlight and found ourselves watching in silence, forgetting to talk. I was moved by the wonderful performance and became eager to try skiing in it myself next time.

Star Festa 2025 in Atsuma is a regular winter event held in Atsuma Town, featuring not only fireworks but also "zodiac character burning" (where zodiac characters are created by burning snow in vast snowy fields) and a "lantern festival" with ice candles lined up.

Against the backdrop of what is said to be Japan's largest zodiac character burning on snowy fields and softly glowing ice candles, approximately 2,000 fireworks are launched, allowing you to enjoy a scenic view that can only be seen here.

At the venue, there are activities for children including candy grab games and rock-paper-scissors tournaments, opportunities to eat the local specialty "Lantern-yaki (Genghis Khan)," as well as free sake and cocoa, making it enjoyable for both children and adults.

At Toyako Onsen Winter Fireworks 2026, you can watch fireworks launched with music for approximately 8 minutes starting at 8:00 PM from the Pier in front of the Toyako Cruise Company Head Office.

The fireworks can be viewed for free from various locations including nearby hot spring inns and the lakeside. The snowy landscape and fireworks reflected on the lake surface are particularly renowned for their beauty, and you are sure to enjoy a fantastical fireworks show. Since the program changes between the first and second half with different performances, why not enjoy it along with an overnight stay?

I once watched the fireworks from a special paid seat, where I enjoyed unforgettable moments viewing the powerful fireworks launched overhead while savoring "oshiruko" (a sweet red bean soup) from a local Japanese confectionery shop.

The Sapporo Bar Hopping Food Tour

When you come to Sapporo, enjoy exquisite cuisine at Susukino restaurants loved by locals. The Sapporo Bar Hopping Food Tour takes you to three locally popular izakayas and bars in Susukino and its surrounding areas, Sapporo's entertainment district.

On the tour, after enjoying dishes made with fresh local seafood and local sake at the first venue, you can choose the second shop based on your mood. Consult with your local guide to be taken to recommended establishments.

For the final stop, you can choose between ramen or parfait. Hokkaido has a deeply rooted "shime parfait" culture of eating parfait after drinking parties, so please try the parfait experience.

Since the guide selects shops according to your preferences, you're guaranteed a highly satisfying bar hopping experience.

Fireworks Festivals Held in July 2026

Lake Toya Long-Run Fireworks Festival

Lake Toya Long-Run Fireworks Festival
Source:Toyako Onsen Sightseeing Association

The Lake Toya Long-Run Fireworks Festival is a fireworks display held almost daily, except in bad weather, for about six months from late April to the end of October. Starting at 20:45, approximately 450 fireworks are launched for about 20 minutes from boats on Lake Toya, vividly coloring the night sky.

While the fireworks can be viewed from various locations such as the lakeside or hot spring hotel rooms, my recommendation is viewing from the fireworks observation boat "Espoir" that moves along with the fireworks.

"Espoir" cruises about 2 km along with the fireworks launch, so you can enjoy the powerful fireworks exploding up close.

Both the fireworks dancing in the sky and those reflected on the lake surface are equally beautiful, and the 20 minutes of fireworks pass in the blink of an eye!

<Information>
- Schedule: Late April to end of October 2026
- Access: About 15 minutes by taxi from Lake Toya Station
- Admission: Free

Rusutsu Resort Golden Week Special Fireworks Festival

Rusutsu Resort Golden Week Special Fireworks Festival
Source:Official website

At the Rusutsu Resort Golden Week Special Fireworks Festival, you can watch approximately 1,200 fireworks accompanied by music at Rusutsu Resort, a comprehensive resort boasting one of Japan's largest scales.

Golden Week is Japan's major holiday period with consecutive national holidays from late April to early May, during which various events are planned throughout the country. The Rusutsu Resort Golden Week Special Fireworks Festival is also held during this holiday period and attracts large crowds.

At Rusutsu Resort, not only accommodation but also facilities such as amusement parks, golf courses, and pools are well-equipped, so the attractive point is that you can play with activities during the day and enjoy spectacular Sapporo Fireworks at night.

I also moved my body playing golf and swimming from morning, then watched the fireworks in the spacious venue at night, feeling liberated from daily stress and spending a fulfilling day.

Ebetsu Fireworks Festival
Source:Official website

Ebetsu Fireworks Festival 2026 is a fireworks display held in Ebetsu City where you can see approximately 10,000 fireworks from very close range.

Since the fireworks are launched right next to the audience seating, I could feel both the fireworks and their sounds up close, enjoying the immersive fireworks experience.

In the highlight finale, spectacular Sapporo Fireworks dance in the sky along with the Ebetsu Fireworks original song "Bloom, flowers of the full sky," bringing the venue's excitement to its peak!

Besides the fireworks, you can enjoy dining at food booths and watching live performances by artists, and with parent-child seating available, it's a fireworks festival that's easy to attend with children.

The event starts at 12:00 and features powerful live performances, kids DJs, and a grand lottery, plus there are plans available where you can enjoy BBQ together with Sapporo Fireworks.

I reserved the BBQ plan with friends and spent the best time with both body and soul satisfied, watching fireworks while enjoying delicious meat and all-you-can-drink beverages.

The park is also an auto campground that has received the highest 5-star certification from the Japan Auto Camping Federation, so camping right after the fireworks is also recommended.

Demon Fireworks of Hell Valley

Demon Fireworks of Hell Valley
Source:Noboribetsu International Tourism Convention Association

Demon Fireworks of Hell Valley is a fireworks event held at Hell Valley at Noboribetsu Onsen, which began with wishes for freedom from disease and good fortune.

At the event, "Yukijin (guardian deity of hot springs)" wearing fierce demon masks appear one after another with drum performances and other music, perform dances, then walk around the venue holding hand-held fireworks (fireworks where gunpowder is packed into bamboo tubes and the operator holds them under both arms to create pillars of fire).

I've also seen it, and I was so captivated by the powerful sight of hand-held fireworks launching about 8 meters high that I forgot to talk with my friends.

After the event ends, photo opportunities with the masked demons are available, so why not take photos as a travel memory?

Makomanai Fireworks Festival

Makomanai Fireworks Festival is one of Hokkaido's largest fireworks displays, where you can enjoy approximately 22,000 fireworks along with music, lighting, and flames. The Sapporo Fireworks are launched at Makomanai Sekisui Heim Stadium, and the stadium structure creates a live atmosphere with reverberating sounds that enhance the experience.

The highlight is the dynamic production where flames dance simultaneously with the fireworks. The spectacular display feels like watching a scene from a movie, and I was overwhelmed by the impactful performance.

At the venue, you can enjoy not only fireworks but also food stall delicacies such as grilled skewers, takoyaki, and candied fruits. The menu features easy-to-eat handheld items, making them perfect for enjoying while watching the fireworks.

During the festival, after enjoying performances by local student brass bands and jazz orchestras, stage lottery draws and other daytime activities, you can watch approximately 7,000 fireworks through the lavender fields as the climax. Since this period coincides with the peak lavender season, the appealing point is that you can enjoy the fireworks along with the healing fragrance of lavender.

Source:Akabira City

Akabira Fire Festival & Citizens' Fireworks Display is held as part of the "Akabira Fire Festival" in Akabira City, taking place on the second day of the two-day festival.

A total of 5,000 fireworks are launched from five locations in sync with music, and it's highly regarded for the wide-screen effect of the display. The music played along with the fireworks is carefully selected from various generations and genres, and familiar parts of songs are connected together to keep the audience entertained.

The highlight is the scene near the end where the audience swings towels to the music, energizing the entire venue. I also enthusiastically swung my towel and raised my spirits while enjoying the fireworks display.

Don't forget to bring a towel to the event and experience the atmosphere of unity at the venue!

Iwamizawa Saika Festival Fireworks Display

Iwamizawa Saika Festival Fireworks Display
Source:Iwamizawa Sightseeign Association

Iwamizawa Saika Festival Fireworks Display is held at Hokkaido Greenland Amusement Park. The distinctive feature is that you can watch approximately 5,500 to 6,000 fireworks within the park where rides are brilliantly lit up.

In the spacious park, my recommended viewing spot is near the Ferris wheel. Of course, watching from within the park where the fireworks are launched provides a powerful experience, but since it's positioned on high ground, you can simultaneously view the illuminated rides and fully enjoy the gorgeous fireworks.

Also note that you can watch the fireworks while riding the attractions. Particularly, watching the fireworks while riding the roller coaster is a new sensation, and once you experience it, you'll definitely want to try it again!

<Information>
- Schedule: July 2026 (date to be determined)

At Fukagawa Summer Festival Fireworks Display, you can watch approximately 3,000 fireworks as the finale of the summer festival held in Fukagawa City. The fireworks are launched on the banks of the Ishikari River for about one hour, unfolding with music on the largest scale in northern Hokkaido, captivating people.

A special stage is set up at the festival where you can enjoy entertainment such as band performances, dance shows, and rock-paper-scissors competitions. There are also food stalls, kitchen cars, and a children's plaza, allowing the whole family to enjoy a full day of fun.

At the food stalls, Hokkaido's local dish "Genghis Khan" (grilled mutton), rice balls made with rice from Fukagawa, and menu items from popular restaurants in Fukagawa City are sold. Why not savor the fireworks while feasting on Hokkaido gourmet food?

Tsukigata Summer Festival

Tsukigata Summer Festival

Tsukigata Summer Festival is a historic summer festival held at Kairaku Park for over 30 years, attracting not only locals but also many tourists. Approximately 3,000 fireworks including starmine and large-scale fireworks are launched, coloring the night sky with vibrant colors.

While you can watch the fireworks from various locations throughout the spacious park, I recommend the lawn area at the main venue, which is close to the fireworks launch site and allows you to enjoy an immersive fireworks experience. However, since people start reserving spots as soon as admission begins, I recommend arriving early.

At the venue, in addition to the fireworks, there are illusion magic shows, musical performances, and bingo games that liven up the atmosphere. The food booths offer not only typical festival menu items such as yakisoba, takoyaki, and fried chicken, but also dishes using locally produced corn and potatoes, so please try the local menu items.

<Information>
- Schedule: July 2026 (date to be determined)

The Otaru Ushio Festival Grand Fireworks

The Otaru Ushio Festival Grand Fireworks is the main program of the Ushio Festival, where you can watch approximately 3,000 fireworks launched from the sea at Otaru Port. The fireworks are held on the final day as the finale event, after enjoying various stage shows, portable shrine parades, drone shows, and more.

Since the fireworks are held at the port, another attractive point is that you can see the fantastical fireworks reflected on the water surface. If you want to fully enjoy the fireworks reflected on the water, I recommend watching from the paid seats prepared near the launch site.

You can watch not only the fireworks from land but also those dancing on the water surface, allowing you to enjoy twice as many fireworks as usual.

<Information>
- Schedule: July 2026 (date to be determined)

Asahikawa Summer Festival – Doshin Evening Fireworks Display
Source:Yahoo! News

Asahikawa Summer Festival – Doshin Evening Fireworks Display is held on the first day of the Asahikawa Summer Festival on the banks of the Ishikari River between Asahibashi Bridge and Shinbashi Bridge.

Approximately 4,000 fireworks including creative fireworks with rich variations, starmine, and rapid-fire displays are launched, livening up the festival's opening day.

The highlight is the collaboration between the illuminated Asahibashi Bridge and the dynamic fireworks. Particularly, the combination of the fireworks reflected on the water surface and Asahibashi Bridge is an enchanting sight, and Doshin Evening Fireworks Display is known as one of the "Three Major Fireworks Displays in Hokkaido."

While you can watch powerful fireworks around Asahibashi Bridge, the area gets crowded, so I recommend viewing from "Ryojinbashi Bridge" upstream of Asahibashi Bridge or "Kinseibashi Bridge" downstream of Shinbashi Bridge, where there are fewer people.

<Information>
- Schedule: July 2026 (date to be determined)

At Hokkaido Art Fireworks, you can see fireworks unique to this location that utilize the three-dimensional terrain at Moerenuma Park, where art and nature coexist, designed by world-famous sculptor Isamu Noguchi.

The event features Japan's top fireworks artists who represented Japan at the "Montreal International Fireworks Competition," launching many highly artistic fireworks.

The fireworks are synchronized with music down to 1/30th of a second, and the highly entertaining program that runs non-stop for about 50 minutes is a must-see. The fireworks not only color the night sky but also convey a grand sense of scale, making me feel as if I were watching a movie.

With moving performances, it's sure to be a memorable night!

HBA Special Night: Doshin Autumn Fireworks

Source:Official website

HBA Special Night: Doshin Autumn Fireworks is an urban entertainment held at Sapporo Dome where you can enjoy 18,000 fireworks accompanied by music.

Since the fireworks are launched in the city center, you won't see large shells, but you can enjoy elaborate fireworks with presentations using the latest digital technology, abundant lower-layer displays, and rich designs.

The sophisticated show of light and music that unfolds using the night sky as a large screen is never boring and you can't take your eyes off it for even a moment!

I enjoyed the fireworks with both visual and auditory senses from the paid terrace seats and could watch from start to finish without getting bored.

An attractive point is also the easy accessibility, as you can reach the nearest station to Sapporo Dome from Sapporo Station via a single subway line.

- Schedule: August 2026 (to be determined)
- Access: 10-minute walk from Fukuzumi Subway Station
- Admission: From 3,000 yen

Muroran Manten Fireworks is an event held at Muroran-dake Mountain Foot Park where you can enjoy three programs: fireworks, music live performances, and comedy shows. It was started by Muroran City, which faces population decline challenges, with the aim of regional revitalization.

At the most exciting fireworks program, you can watch approximately 35,000 fireworks, one of Japan's largest, accompanied by music that highlights the fireworks by a professional sound team.

Since the venue is on a hill overlooking Muroran City, an attractive point is also that you can enjoy the view of looking down at the Sapporo Fireworks launched into the night sky.

At the venue, there's also "Manten Amusement Park" with plenty of attractions for children and a food area with about 80 stalls where you can taste local gourmet food, so you can fully enjoy the event all day long.

FIREWORKS Illusion – Iwamizawa Park Fireworks Festival

FIREWORKS Illusion – Iwamizawa Park Fireworks Festival
Source:PR TIMES

FIREWORKS Illusion – Iwamizawa Park Fireworks Festival is a fireworks festival held at Hokkaido Greenland Amusement Park, where about 6,000 fireworks are launched in 20 minutes.

Fireworks can be seen from all over the park, but my particular recommendation is viewing the fireworks from Hokkaido's largest Ferris wheel. From the large Ferris wheel, you can look down on the park, so the characteristic feature is that you can see the illuminated rides together with the fireworks rising into the night sky.

The park sparkles like scattered jewels, and you can enjoy a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

There is also a paid seating area with chairs set up close to the fireworks launch site. If you want to watch the fireworks in comfort, I recommend reserving paid seats in advance.

<Information>
- Schedule: September 2026 (to be determined)
- Access: 2-minute walk from Greenland bus stop
- Admission: Adults 1,800 yen, Children 1,100 yen

Sapporo Bar Hopping Food Tour

If you visit bars in Susukino that only locals know about, you can enjoy exquisite Hokkaido ingredients. At Sapporo Bar Hopping Food Tour, you can taste local cuisine and drinks in Susukino, known as Sapporo's entertainment district.

On the tour, you first enjoy fresh local seafood, sake, shochu, and more, then decide on the next restaurant in consultation with the guide.

All the restaurants carefully selected by the guide are unique local popular establishments where you can savor Hokkaido's seasonal delicacies. For the tour's finale, you can choose between ramen or parfait. Since Hokkaido has a culture of eating parfait after drinking parties, I recommend the parfait.

Why not join the tour and experience Sapporo's nightlife where you can fully enjoy the autumn of appetite?

<Information>
- Meeting place: Outside Susukino Station, under the NIKKA sign
- Area: Susukino
- Meeting time: 18:00, 19:00
