Hiroshima 1-Day Itinerary 2026: 2 Perfect Plans for Peace Memorial & Miyajima Island w/Must-See Attractions

itinerary Published: Jan 25, 2026

Hiroshima is known as the "Peace Memorial City," home to World Heritage sites such as the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park. The city is also blessed with rich natural beauty, nurtured by the mild climate along the Seto Inland Sea coast. Another attractive point is the abundance of ingredients that benefit from nature's bounty, such as oysters and lemons.

Itsukushima Shrine, standing over the sea, is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its beautiful scenery captivates many visitors.

This time, we'll introduce a recommended Hiroshima one-day itinerary 2026 to help you fully enjoy this city full of highlights. Use it as a reference for planning your trip!

I actually traveled around Hiroshima based on this plan in November 2025!

Two Must-Visit Spots When Exploring Hiroshima in One Day

Peace-Related Facilities in Central Hiroshima

Peace-Related Facilities in Central Hiroshima

Peace-related facilities are concentrated in central Hiroshima. This area is where the Atomic Bomb Dome, Peace Memorial Park, and Peace Memorial Museum—visited by many tourists—are located adjacent to each other. We'll introduce each facility in detail later.

From Hiroshima Station, it takes about 17 minutes by streetcar or loop bus. You can leisurely reach your destination while enjoying the cityscape of Hiroshima.

This area is an important spot when talking about Hiroshima, representing the atomic bomb damage, the call for nuclear abolition, and wishes for world peace.

  • Access: Directly from "Atomic Bomb Dome Mae" streetcar stop / Directly from "Peace Park/Atomic Bomb Dome" bus stop

Miyajima

Miyajima

Another essential spot for Hiroshima sightseeing is Miyajima. From Hiroshima Station, it takes about 1 to 1.5 hours using trains and ferries.

As one of Japan's Three Most Scenic Views, the shrine buildings and red torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine floating on the sea are familiar sights in guidebooks. The way the scenery changes with the ebb and flow of the tides creates a sacred and mystical atmosphere.

Local foods such as oysters and anago-meshi (conger eel rice) are also recommended. Miyajima, where you can enjoy traditional culture, nature, and gourmet food, is a must-see spot for Hiroshima tourism.

  • Access: Take the JR Sanyo Main Line from Hiroshima Station and get off at "Miyajimaguchi" Station → About 10 minutes by ferry from Miyajimaguchi Ferry Terminal

If Your Stay Is One Day or Less, We Recommend Focusing on One of These Two Spots

If you can stay for a full day, it's possible to visit both, but in that case, you won't be able to leisurely explore either spot. If you only have one day, we recommend choosing one or the other.

If you choose the peace-related facilities area near Hiroshima Station, you'll have plenty of time for dining and shopping as well.

About the Two Itineraries Introduced in This Article

In Plan 1, we propose a route focusing on peace-related facilities, and in Plan 2, a route focusing on Miyajima. In addition to tourist facilities, we'll also introduce restaurants where you can enjoy delicious Hiroshima cuisine and convenient guided tours.

Compare both itineraries and plan according to your preferences and surrounding schedule!

For spots you're particularly interested in, joining a tour with a local guide allows you to enjoy them 120%. Magical Trip tours are recommended as they let you efficiently visit must-see spots in about 5 to 5.5 hours.

On tours that visit the Atomic Bomb Dome and Memorial Park, you can gain deeper knowledge of the history and background through the guide's explanations.

The half-day tour in Miyajima is attractive because you can fully enjoy Miyajima's highlights through routes unique to guides, including Itsukushima Shrine, Daisho-in, and museums.

Both tours end in the early afternoon, so you can also move to other sightseeing spots from afternoon to evening.

If you want to efficiently enjoy and deeply experience each tourist destination in limited time, please join a local tour.

Plan 1: Hiroshima One-day Itinerary 2026 Centered on Peace-Related Sightseeing Spots

9:00 AM: Explore Peace-Related Spots in Central Hiroshima

For peace-related spots, aim to visit during the morning hours when you can relatively avoid crowds.
The Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park are open 24 hours, so visiting in the crisp morning air is highly recommended.

Atomic Bomb Dome

Atomic Bomb Dome

The Atomic Bomb Dome in Peace Memorial Park is a special place for the people of Hiroshima and serves as the symbol of this entire area. It stands not merely as a historical structure but as an important place to never forget the wish for world peace.

The building, which survived total destruction from the bombing, has been preserved and repaired while retaining the framework of its dome. The atmosphere, as if time has stopped in that very spot, allows you to feel the real impact of the atomic bomb.

Although you cannot enter inside, you will be moved by its quiet presence that seems to emit a powerful message. Please come and see it for yourself to experience the various emotions it evokes.

Peace Memorial Park

Peace Memorial Park

Peace Memorial Park was completed in 1955, ten years after the bombing, as a place to memorialize the atomic bomb victims and pray for world peace. Every year on August 6th, the "Peace Memorial Ceremony" is held, drawing many attendees.

This area, which was once a bustling downtown district, lost everything in an instant due to the atomic bomb. Today, it continues to send a message of peace to the world as a "symbol of lasting peace."

Within the park, in addition to the Atomic Bomb Dome registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site and the Peace Memorial Museum, there are various monuments and memorial cenotaphs. The Rest House, which utilizes a building that survived the bombing, houses a café and gift shop, so please stop by.

Peace Memorial Museum

Peace Memorial Museum

The Peace Memorial Museum located within the park is a valuable museum where you can learn "what happened on August 6, 1945."

The museum is divided into the Main Building and East Building, with permanent exhibitions including:

  • Atomic bomb materials based on testimonies from atomic bomb survivors
  • Personal belongings of atomic bomb victims
  • Photographs depicting the devastation of the bombing
  • The history of Hiroshima before and after the bombing

Additionally, limited-time special exhibitions such as short films and art exhibitions themed on the atomic bomb are also held.

Audio guides (paid) are available for rental in 15 languages including English, French, Chinese, and Korean. You can tour the museum in about 30 minutes to 1 hour, so please visit at least once.

  • Address: 1-2 Nakajima-cho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima
  • Hours: 8:30–18:00 (until 19:00 in August / until 17:00 in winter)
  • Closed: December 30 and 31

Hiroshima Orizuru Tower

Hiroshima Orizuru Tower

Adjacent to the Peace Memorial Museum, Orizuru Tower is Hiroshima's new landmark. "Orizuru" refers to cranes folded from origami paper, which serve as a symbol of world peace and the dignity of life in Hiroshima.

My recommendation is the observation deck on the rooftop. You can enjoy a panoramic view of Hiroshima city, including the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park. The area is surrounded by mesh with no glass windows, allowing you to feel the breeze with an incredible sense of openness.

The adjoining café (takeout only) sells fresh juices made with locally grown fruits, coffee, alcoholic beverages, and sweets. Please relax and enjoy them on the wooden deck.

For Peace-Related Spots That Are Difficult for Tourists to Fully Understand Alone, We Recommend Touring with a Local

For Peace-Related Spots That Are Difficult for Tourists to Fully Understand Alone, We Recommend Touring with a Local

Peace-related spots can sometimes be difficult to fully understand just by looking around on your own. In such cases, why not join a tour guided by someone who knows the local area well?

By walking through the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Memorial Park while listening to the guide's explanations, you can gain a deeper understanding of Hiroshima. Since it's approximately a half-day tour, you can still make meaningful use of your time after the tour ends.

It is not surprising that there may be different perspectives on peace between Japanese people and people from other countries.

By participating in a local tour, you can deeply learn about the awareness of peace that Japanese people hold as a nation that experienced atomic bombing, and how Japan's culture of peace has developed through the experience of war.

For those who have time, please consider joining this tour to deepen your cultural understanding!

1:00PM: Enjoy Delicious Hiroshima Food in Central Hiroshima

After visiting the peace-related facilities, treat yourself to delicious food unique to Hiroshima. The city center offers a variety of local cuisine from different genres.

Here are four restaurants I personally recommend for your Hiroshima One-day Itinerary 2026.

Nagataya

Nagataya
Source:Tabelog

Nagataya is an okonomiyaki restaurant located near Peace Memorial Park. The Hiroshima style involves layering each ingredient rather than mixing them together, with soba or udon noodles sandwiched in between.

At Nagataya, they take time to grill each ingredient slowly to bring out its natural flavors. Their custom-made sauce has a mild sweetness, with the fruity acidity of tomatoes as its highlight.

My recommendation is the "Orijinal," which contains pork, shrimp, green onion, egg, and soba noodles. If you want to try authentic Hiroshima okonomiyaki, this is the place to visit.

  • Address: 1F Shigeishi Building, 1-7-19 Otemachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima
  • Hours: 11:00–20:30 (L.O. 20:00)
  • Closed: Tuesdays and 2nd & 4th Wednesdays
  • Phone: 082-247-0787
  • Official Website: http://nagataya-okonomi.com/en/

Ekohiiki

Ekohiiki
Source:Official website

When I want to enjoy Hiroshima's seafood and sake, I head to Ekohiiki. They source Hiroshima-produced ingredients directly from local farmers and fishermen, and the owner personally travels throughout Japan to carefully select various ingredients.

Hiroshima's branded oysters, Kusatsu Oyster, can be enjoyed prepared in various ways including grilled, steamed, and fried. My recommendation is the steamed oysters, where the plump, juicy meat is packed with rich umami flavor. Please enjoy them paired with Japanese sake.

  • Address: 1F Komatsu Building, 1-7-20 Otemachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima
  • Hours: Lunch 11:30–14:00 / Dinner 17:00–22:00
  • Closed: Mondays and 1st & 3rd Tuesdays
  • Phone: 082-545-3655
  • Official Website: http://ekohiiki.com/about/

Tsuki Akari

Tsuki Akari
Source:Official website

Located a 3-minute walk from Peace Park, Tsuki Akari is a restaurant specializing in conger eel dishes and aburi (seared) cuisine. When you pass by the charming renovated traditional Japanese house, you'll be drawn in by the fragrant aroma of conger eel being grilled over charcoal.

Their signature dish, the Special Conger Eel Rice, is something I always order. First, enjoy the rice topped with conger eel drizzled in a sweet and savory sauce as is. Next, add your preferred condiments, and finally, pour dashi broth over it to savor.

Their aburi-yaki, where Hiroshima-produced seafood and meat are seared over charcoal, is also exquisite!

Okkundou Mazemen

Okkundou Mazemen
Source:Tabelog

Mazemen is a soup-less ramen where you mix sauce, oil, and toppings together with the noodles before eating. Okkundou takes pride in their firm, thick noodles and their special dashi-infused sauce. The toppings, including soft-boiled egg and char siu, are also superb.

You can customize your bowl by choosing the noodle portion size, hot or cold, toppings, and spice level. My favorite is the set that comes with fried food, rice, and pickles. After eating the noodles, the Okkundou style is to add rice to the remaining sauce and enjoy it.

Mix everything together and dig in heartily!

3:30PM: Head to Miyajima and Explore the Attractions That Interest You

Head to Miyajima and Explore the Attractions That Interest You

After fully enjoying Hiroshima city, head to Miyajima. It takes about 1 to 1.5 hours from central Hiroshima to Miyajima, so I recommend going when you have flexibility in your subsequent plans to account for this travel time.

Miyajima has various types of tourist attractions, so if you only have a short time to stay, I suggest picking out the spots that interest you in advance.

My recommendations are Itsukushima Shrine and Omotesando Shopping Street. I will introduce Miyajima's tourist spots in detail in Plan 2.

If you couldn't visit all the spots you wanted to see in Hiroshima city before lunch, extending your stay in Hiroshima city is also a great way to maximize your satisfaction during your Hiroshima One-day Itinerary 2026.

Optional Time: Have Dinner in Miyajima and Return to Hiroshima City

After visiting one or two must-see spots in Miyajima, I also recommend enjoying a dinner featuring local specialties.

Miyajima has many restaurants where you can savor fresh seafood. Here are my three favorite picks.

Yakigaki No Hayashi

Yakigaki No Hayashi.png
Source:Official website

The long-established oyster restaurant Yakigaki No Hayashi is known as the birthplace of grilled oysters. They use Jigozen Oyster, an award-winning branded oyster from Hiroshima, grilling each order carefully to bring out its rich flavor.

You can also enjoy oysters prepared in various ways, including raw, fried, and in oyster rice. Generally, raw oysters are only available during certain seasons, but this restaurant uses oysters raised in temperature-controlled waters, so you can enjoy them year-round.

Be sure to try the set with conger eel rice as well!

Miyajima Jukeiso

Miyajima Jukeiso
Source:Official website

Jukeiso is a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) where you can enjoy spectacular views of Miyajima along with your meal. Their seasonal Kaiseki Ryori, which allows you to fully savor Hiroshima's seafood, is particularly popular.

Kaiseki Ryori is a traditional Japanese cuisine course style where dishes are served one by one, designed to complement sake.

The seasonal courses featuring sea bream, flounder, and oyster dishes (available only in autumn and winter) as the main attractions can also be enjoyed for their elegant and delicate presentation.

Please savor exquisite Japanese cuisine while taking in the views of the Great Torii Gate and Itsukushima Shrine.

The hilltop location offers outstanding views.

Miyajima Sushi Tensen

Miyajima Sushi Tensen
Source:Tabelog

Located a 5-minute walk from Miyajima Pier, Miyajima Sushi Tensen is the only authentic sushi restaurant on Miyajima. They are committed to using all Hiroshima-produced ingredients, including sushi toppings, rice, Japanese sake, and wasabi.

What impressed me was the oyster soup served at the end of the course meal. The elegant dashi broth, brimming with oyster umami, and the creamy, melt-in-your-mouth oyster meat made for an unforgettable luxurious bowl.

Please enjoy exquisite Hiroshima-style sushi in the calm atmosphere of this restaurant.

  • Address: 810-1 Miyajimacho, Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima

Return to Hiroshima for Bar Hopping – A Personal Recommendation

Return to Hiroshima for Bar Hopping – A Personal Recommendation

After enjoying Miyajima sightseeing and local cuisine, I recommend heading back to central Hiroshima to explore the nightlife. The heart of Hiroshima is home to many casual establishments where you can enjoy local food and drinks.

When I'm traveling and unsure which restaurant to choose, I often join a guided food tour. I trust the carefully selected spots chosen by guides who know the city well, and it's reassuring to enjoy the experience without worrying about local customs.

With Magical Trip's bar hopping tour, you can fully enjoy Hiroshima specialties and drinks in just three hours. At a renowned okonomiyaki restaurant, watch the chef skillfully prepare your meal on the iron griddle right before your eyes.

Plan 2: Hiroshima One-day Itinerary 2026 Centered Around Miyajima

9:00 AM: Arrive at Miyajima

To make the most of your day at Miyajima, I recommend arriving around 9:00 AM. Including transfer times for trains and ferries, plan to depart Hiroshima around 7:00–7:30 AM.

The morning hours allow you to avoid crowds, so you can explore popular spots at a more relaxed pace.

Now, let's take a look at this Hiroshima One-day Itinerary 2026 with Miyajima as the main focus.

Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Japan's most famous tourist destinations, renowned worldwide.

The vermillion torii gate standing in the water rises 16 meters high and has become the symbol of Miyajima. At high tide, it appears to float mystically on the sea.

At low tide, you can walk up close to the torii gate and appreciate its impressive scale. I recommend checking the tide schedule in advance for the time of your visit.

The shrine complex features long vermillion corridors connecting all the buildings, and at high tide, walking through feels like strolling over the sea. Following the designated route allows you to fully enjoy the dynamic views of the entire shrine and the surrounding ocean!

  • Address: 1-1 Miyajimacho, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture
  • Visiting hours: 6:30–18:30 (until 17:00 in winter)
  • Closed: Open year-round
  • Phone: 0829-44-2020
  • Official website: https://www.itsukushimajinja.jp/en/

Hokoku-jinja (Senjokaku Pavilion)

Hokoku-jinja (Senjokaku Pavilion)

Hokoku-jinja is a shrine associated with Hideyoshi Toyotomi, a warlord who was active in the late 1500s. He ordered its construction as a place to honor those who died in battle.

Because Hideyoshi passed away before its completion, the building remains unfinished to this day. The absence of some walls creates an open atmosphere, turning this incomplete aspect into a unique feature.

From the veranda, you can enjoy magnificent views of the Seto Inland Sea and Itsukushima Shrine.

With a floor space of 857 tatami mats (1,400 square meters), it is also known as Senjokaku (Thousand Mat Pavilion).

  • Address: 1-1 Miyajimacho, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture
  • Visiting hours: 8:30–16:30
  • Closed: Open year-round
  • Phone: 0829-44-2020
  • Official website: https://www.itsukushimajinja.jp/en/

Daishoin

Daishoin

With over 1,200 years of history, Daishoin is the oldest temple on Miyajima. Located at the foot of the mountain behind Itsukushima Shrine, this temple is known as a spiritual power spot believed to ward off misfortune and bring good luck.

My recommended highlight is the variety of experiences available, such as sutra copying and Zen meditation. With advance reservation, you can also enjoy Shojin Ryori—the cuisine of Buddhist monks, which excludes meat, fish, and strongly flavored or stimulating ingredients.

The temple hosts many seasonal events, and when I visited in autumn, the autumn foliage was beautifully illuminated. This is a must-visit spot for anyone wanting to experience Miyajima's rich history.

  • Address: 210 Miyajimacho, Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture
  • Visiting hours: 8:00–17:00
  • Closed: Open year-round
  • Phone: 0829-44-0111
  • Official website: https://daisho-in.com/

Miyajima History and Folklore Museum

Miyajima History and Folklore Museum
Source:Google Maps

For those wanting to explore Miyajima's history further, why not visit the Miyajima History and Folklore Museum? This museum was created by restoring the residence and storehouses of the Egami family, who amassed great wealth through soy sauce brewing in the early 1800s.

My recommended highlights:

  • The beautiful Japanese garden spreading across the grounds
  • The historic stone-paved earthen storehouses
  • Exhibits of large kettles, jars, pulleys, and everyday household items

As you gaze at the various tools and household items that were actually used, you can almost picture the daily lives of Miyajima's residents from that era.

If you want to learn about Miyajima's history from a different perspective, be sure to visit!

Explore Must-See Attractions Efficiently and Deeply with a Local Guide!

Explore Must-See Attractions Efficiently and Deeply with a Local Guide

By joining a guided tour, you can efficiently explore Miyajima with its many highlights.

The appealing point is that you can enjoy must-see spots introduced here—such as Itsukushima Shrine, Daishoin, and the Museum—with expert commentary from a guide.

Japanese culture and traditional tourist spots have characteristics that tourists alone may not be able to fully appreciate.

In fact, my Australian friend once told me, "If Sena hadn't been there, I would have left Japan without knowing why this shrine has been carefully preserved by the people for so long, and what fascinating experiences I could have here."

If you want to enjoy 120% of Miyajima's charm in a short time, check out the following local tour that offers an in-depth experience of Miyajima's traditional spots.

  • Tour area: Miyajima Island (Itsukushima Shrine / Miyajima History and Folklore Museum / Daisho-in Temple / Momijidani Park)

Miyajima Half-day Trip Historical Walking Tour

Enjoy Street Food at Miyajima Omotesandō Shopping Street
Source:Google Maps

After visiting the popular spots, it's time to enjoy some street food. Omotesando Shopping Street stretches from the ferry terminal to Itsukushima Shrine and is lined with local specialty food shops and souvenir stores.

Here, I've handpicked three of my favorite shops that I always visit whenever I go to Miyajima as part of this Hiroshima One-day Itinerary 2026.

Momijido Main Store

Momijido Main Store
Source:Tabelog

Momijido is a Japanese confectionery shop famous for Miyajima's specialty, momiji manju. Momiji manju is a maple leaf-shaped sweet with sweet bean paste wrapped in castella sponge cake batter.

The shop's signature item is Age-Momiji, which is deep-fried momiji manju. You can enjoy both crispy and fluffy textures in one bite. Its cute appearance on a stick is also insta-worthy.

I highly recommend trying the Setouchi Lemon flavor!

Pettara Pottara Honpo

Pettara Pottara Honpo

Pettara Pottara is a local delicacy that is becoming a new staple of Miyajima. It features oysters or conger eel on top of a mochi-like dough, grilled over charcoal. The name comes from the Hiroshima dialect words "Pettara (flat)" and "Pottara (puffy)."

The secret soy sauce glaze is irresistibly delicious, offering a unique taste that's slightly different from onigiri. My favorite is the one topped with plump, large oysters. Please give it a try!

  • Katsutani An-Margarine

3:30PM: Head to Hiroshima City and Visit the Must-See Peace-Related Sites

Head to Hiroshima City and Visit the Must-See Peace-Related Sites

After enjoying Miyajima's street food delights, head back to central Hiroshima. Since it takes about one and a half hours by ferry and train from Miyajima, plan your departure time accordingly.

I recommend choosing from the peace-related spots introduced in Plan 1 and prioritizing the ones that interest you most.

The must-see spots I want everyone to visit are the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park. If you have time before dinner, I also encourage you to visit the Peace Memorial Museum and Hiroshima Orizuru Tower. Since they're all in the same area, visiting all of them briefly is also a great option for this Hiroshima One-day Itinerary 2026.

If you didn't get to fully enjoy Miyajima before lunch, extending your stay on the island is another idea to consider.

7:00PM: Enjoy Dinner & Bar Hopping in Hiroshima City

In the evening, head to the bustling downtown area of central Hiroshima to enjoy local specialties and drinks—a perfect way to wrap up your Hiroshima One-day Itinerary 2026.

Hiroshima has various districts, each with its own unique character, from one of Japan's largest entertainment areas to dining streets beloved by locals. Here, I've picked five areas I've personally visited.

Choose the one that best suits your preferences and purpose!

Nagarekawa Area: One of the Largest Entertainment Districts in the Chugoku-Shikoku Region

One of the Largest Entertainment Districts in the Chugoku-Shikoku Region

If you want to enjoy nightlife in a lively entertainment district, the Nagarekawa Area is a must-visit, offering everything from budget-friendly spots to upscale establishments.

While there are many casual options like Hiroshima's famous okonomiyaki restaurants and izakayas, you'll also find stylish bars and long-established Japanese eateries, which adds to the area's appeal. The number of dessert shops open late at night has been increasing, and many local women visit the area in groups.

With bars and karaoke venues open until late, this is the perfect spot to fully enjoy Hiroshima's nightlife.

Hacchobori Area: A District Loved by Locals

A District Loved by Locals

The Hacchobori Area has developed as a business district and is the economic heart of Hiroshima. With many youth-oriented fashion buildings and long-established department stores, I often visit here when I want to go shopping.

Another great point is its excellent access from Hiroshima Station, with streetcar stops concentrated in the area. Watching the streetcars run through the center of the city gives you a true sense of Hiroshima's character.

With historic Japanese gardens and art museums, this area is recommended for those who want to experience various aspects of Hiroshima, including culture, history, and nature.

Kamiyacho, Hondori & Fukuromachi Area: A Dining District Rivaling Hacchobori and Nagarekawa

A Dining District Rivaling Hacchobori and Nagarekawa

This area, where three districts are adjacent to each other, offers a variety of restaurant types.

Kamiyacho

  • Many upscale Japanese restaurants and large-scale izakayas
  • Recommended for those who prefer a calm atmosphere or for large groups

Hondori Shopping Street

  • Many renowned okonomiyaki shops and fast-food restaurants
  • A convenient area for those who want to grab a quick, casual meal

Fukuromachi Area

  • Many specialty establishments including creative Japanese cuisine, wine bars, and cafes
  • A stylish area popular among young people

Choose the one that suits your taste!

EKINISHI: Excellent Access on the South Side of Hiroshima Station

Excellent Access on the South Side of Hiroshima Station

My favorite area is EKINISHI, which stretches along the railway tracks on the west side of Hiroshima Station. It's a dining district popular among locals, with many stylish establishments renovated from old traditional houses.

The blend of retro charm and modern style is what makes this area so appealing.

With a diverse lineup including sushi, okonomiyaki, ramen, Chinese cuisine, Thai food, and izakayas, you'll have a hard time deciding where to go. Since there are many small, unique establishments, it's fun to visit several places in one night.

Around Yokogawa Station: A Hidden Gem Where Locals Dominate

Around Yokogawa Station.png
Source:Wikipedia

The area around Yokogawa Station has a local atmosphere with many old-fashioned supermarkets and daily goods stores.

It's also characterized by specialty restaurants, including gyoza specialty shops, teppanyaki restaurants, and izakayas serving exquisite junmai sake and yakitori.

Yokogawa Station is about 5 minutes by JR or about 15 minutes by streetcar from Hiroshima Station. My recommendation is to take the streetcar and leisurely enjoy the streetscape along the way.

You can enjoy watching the scenery transition from an urban atmosphere to a relaxed local landscape.

Join a Local Guide Tour to Enjoy Authentic Hiroshima Food at Restaurants Beloved by Locals

Join a Local Guide Tour to Enjoy Authentic Hiroshima Food at Restaurants Beloved by Locals

In Hiroshima, where delicious food abounds, joining a food tour with a local guide is also recommended as part of your Hiroshima One-day Itinerary 2026.

On this tour, a guide who knows Hiroshima's restaurants inside and out will take you to three locally popular establishments.

Savor authentic Hiroshima flavors at an okonomiyaki restaurant where the chef skillfully cooks right in front of you on a hot iron griddle. At a lively izakaya filled with locals, I recommend pairing fresh seafood with Hiroshima's local sake.

Enjoy the local experience that only a guided tour can offer.

I'm Sena, a director at Magical Trip. I’ve been living in Tokyo since 2020, spending most of my time around Shibuya and Shinjuku. In 2024, I moved to Shinjuku, where I now enjoy bar hopping and relaxing coffee breaks at local cafés here I truly love!
