When I entered the establishment, I was overwhelmed by the sight of hundreds of beer cans and bottles filling the walls from floor to ceiling. The owner is one of the pioneers who introduced American craft beer to Japan. They stock over 250 types of beer, with 6 varieties constantly available on tap.
One of the attractions is enjoying American pub cuisine, where you can taste authentic American food that pairs perfectly with beer, including hamburgers, pizza, chili beans, and fish & chips.

Tap Room BEER KOTAN, despite being a relatively new establishment that opened in 2020, has earned acclaim from many craft beer enthusiasts. Its greatest feature is being the directly operated tap room by Hopkotan Brewing from Kamifurano-cho, the only place in Hokkaido that commercially cultivates hops. You can enjoy unique beers that combine local hops with carefully selected hops from around the world. They constantly offer 10-12 varieties on tap and brew over 70 different beer styles annually.
The food menu is also extensive, with recommended dishes including Kamifurano's specialty pork sagari grilled hot on an iron plate with homemade sauce, and juicy sausages made in-house using Kamifurano pork.
I tried the pork sagari myself. It had less fat than pork belly with a refreshing taste, yet was softer than loin with just the right texture and was absolutely delicious.

The reason I recommend this place is that you can enjoy Sapporo's exquisite food alongside excellent brewery beers from Portland, which has over 70 breweries. The food menu includes nuts, popcorn, and Ezo deer soft jerky, which pair perfectly with beer.
When my friends and I visit Sapporo, we always start by enjoying beer here before heading out for sightseeing. Going at night is also recommended, and on holidays, it's bustling with many foodies.
You can also purchase cans and bottles. For those staying several days, I recommend enjoying drinks at Beer Cellar Sapporo and taking some out on different days to enjoy at your hotel with other exquisite foods.
