Ginza November 2026: Ultimate Guide to Art Aquarium, Planetarium/ Music Event & Autumn Foliage
Tokyo is home to countless spots, from bustling entertainment districts like Shibuya and Harajuku, to neighborhoods that come alive at night like Shinjuku and Roppongi, to areas that preserve traditional old-town charm like Asakusa and Kanda.
While Tokyo is a city packed with appeal, it's also true that increasing tourism development has made it harder for visitors to experience the "real Tokyo." In other words, instead of enjoying Tokyo like a local, tourists are often limited to experiencing only the touristy side of the city.
That's exactly why I want you to explore the city with locals who know the real Tokyo. With tours from Magical Trip—winner of Tripadvisor's The Best of The Best in both 2024 and 2025—you can make that happen.

In Ginza, where you can enjoy some of the best Japanese cuisine in the country, what I especially want you to try is sushi and wagyu beef. If you’d like to experience top-tier Japanese food at exclusive, hard-to-book restaurants, be sure to join the “Finest Quality Sushi & Tempura Dining Experience in Ginza” or the “Wagyu Beef & Sake Pairing Foodie Tour in Ginza.”
The Tokyo Bar Hopping Night Tour in Shinjuku, a back-to-back winner of The Best of The Best for two consecutive years, lets you safely enjoy spots beloved by locals in famous Shinjuku areas like Kabukicho and Omoide Yokocho.

All displays were extremely artistic, with gracefully swimming goldfish appearing lovely, expressing the glossy beauty unique to Japanese autumn. Fallen leaves were scattered on the floor, and just walking through the museum allowed visitors to feel the fantastical autumn mood.

The illuminations feature items used in Kabuki performances, such as lanterns and Japanese umbrellas. Also captivating are the illuminations adorning pine trees decorated with yukitsuri — a traditional technique of wrapping trees with ropes to protect them from the weight of snow.

Recommended Autumn Foliage Spots Around Ginza in November
Hamarikyu Onshi Teien (Hamarikyu Gardens)

Hamarikyu Gardens is a traditional Japanese garden with vast grounds located 20 minutes by train from Ginza. With over 300 years of history, you can enjoy beautiful ponds, traditional teahouses, seasonal flowers, and historic trees within the garden.
In autumn, you can see beautiful autumn foliage of maple, Japanese maple, and cherry trees around the large pond called "Tide Pond" within the garden. The vivid autumn colors viewed together with traditional Japanese architecture bridges, teahouses, and beautiful ponds create spectacular scenery.
This is also a photography spot where many photographers visit in autumn to capture beautiful bridges, teahouses, and autumn foliage together in one frame.
Additionally, Tokyo Bay seawater flows into Tide Pond, so you can sometimes observe marine creatures like eels and crabs. Try spending a peaceful autumn moment away from the city's hustle and bustle by carefully observing the pond or drinking matcha at the teahouse while viewing the autumn foliage.

Imperial Palace Outer Gardens

The Imperial Palace Outer Gardens are a park area surrounding the residence where Japan's imperial family lives. Despite being in the center of Tokyo with its towering buildings, the vast lawn areas and rich nature including pine trees are beautiful, making it a popular spot for people to enjoy strolling and running.
In the vast Outer Gardens, when November comes, you can enjoy different autumn foliage scenery at various spots within the grounds. For example, at Babasaki Moat, you can enjoy the golden autumn colors of the ginkgo tree-lined street planted along the moat.
Also, Kitanomaru Park, which has a vast lawn area, is spacious with fewer people, so you can leisurely enjoy the colorful red and yellow autumn foliage.
I also visited the Outer Gardens last November. While strolling, the cold autumn breeze felt pleasant, and surrounded by many vibrant trees, I felt so refreshed that I couldn't believe I was in Tokyo.
If you visit the Imperial Palace Outer Gardens in November, I recommend taking plenty of time to slowly walk through the wide park.

When visiting the Imperial Palace, also enjoy Chidorigafuchi Greenway!

Chidorigafuchi Greenway is a promenade developed along the Imperial Palace moat. Cherry trees are planted along the promenade, making it a famous cherry blossom spot where you can enjoy a full display of cherry blossoms in spring. In autumn, the cherry trees all turn color at once, and you can enjoy chic and elegant reddish-brown autumn foliage.
At the moat visible from Chidorigafuchi Greenway, boating is a popular activity on sunny days. I really love walking along the Greenway while watching the vivid autumn foliage of the trees and the happy appearance of people boating among the autumn leaves.
Of course, riding a boat from Chidorigafuchi Boating Center and enjoying the autumn foliage from close to the water surface is also recommended. Try looking up at the autumn foliage on both banks from the boat, or leisurely enjoy watching the water surface covered with reddish-brown fallen leaves.
From the Greenway, you can also view Tokyo's high-rise building clusters and Tokyo Tower. When you visit the Imperial Palace, please also enjoy Chidorigafuchi Greenway together.

Gyoko-dori Street

Gyoko-dori Street is a street that continues from Uchibori-dori Street in front of the Imperial Palace to the Marunouchi Central Exit of Tokyo Station. It's a popular spot where you can enjoy beautiful tree-lined streets of Ginkgo trees planted on both sides of the wide road with a width of 74m.
In autumn, the Ginkgo trees all turn color at once, and you can slowly stroll along the 190m golden tree-lined street. Many benches are installed at both ends of the street, where you can rest while looking at the Ginkgo leaves that have fallen and accumulated on the ground.
Furthermore, the view of Ginkgo trees at night together with Marunouchi's high-rise buildings and the beautiful brick-built Tokyo Station is a very Tokyo-like scene and my favorite view. If you visit the Ginza area or Tokyo Station, please try walking along Gyoko-dori Street.

KAKUUCHI (Liquor Store Stand) Festival

The KAKUUCHI (liquor store Stand) Festival is an event where liquor stores from Tokyo and all over the country gather in Ueno Park to open special shops. At the venue, you can enjoy sake from various regions, various alcoholic beverages, and gourmet food.
What I particularly enjoyed at past events I participated in was the "Sake tasting" booth. At this booth, while comparing many different sakes, I could learn in detail about the types and characteristics of sake and how to taste it from the liquor store staff.
The world of sake is profound, and it was a very interesting time filled with knowledge I didn't know. Also, at another paid booth, I could challenge a game of tasting sake and guessing the type. Gourmet foods that pair perfectly with sake, such as karaage (fried chicken) and gyoza (dumplings), are also sold in abundance.
If you love sake, please visit Ueno Park in November.

Asakusa Tori no Ichi Festival

Asakusa Tori no Ichi Festival is a traditional festival held in Asakusa in November. It has a history of over 300 years and is held to pray for business prosperity and good luck.
On festival days, a large-scale market opens in the Asakusa neighborhood, where traditional rakes believed to bring good luck are sold.
The rake is called "Kumade" in Japanese and is believed to have the power to rake in good luck and money. At the Asakusa Tori no Ichi Festival, gorgeously decorated Kumade in traditional style are sold in abundance at the market, and many people visit to buy them as important lucky charms.
At this festival, every time a Kumade is purchased at a store, there's a custom where the shop people give traditional chants to the customers and clap their hands. On the day I visited, 400 shops were set up, and energetic chants were heard here and there, filling the market with enthusiasm.
If you're interested in traditional events, please visit Asakusa on the November event dates.

- Access: Take the Hibiya Subway Line to Iriya Station or Minowa Station → 10 minutes walk → Around Chokokuji Temple

Hanazono Shrine Tori no Ichi

Every November, Hanazono Shrine in Shinjuku holds a traditional festival known as the Tori no Ichi Festival. This is a long-standing Japanese tradition dating back to the Edo period, and the shrine grounds fill with people purchasing rakes — considered good luck charms in Japan.
Rakes have long been cherished as objects that invite happiness and good fortune, and they are characteristically decorated with ornaments such as treasure ships and old coins. Rakes come in a range of sizes, from large to small, so they also make great souvenirs to take home.
Many food and goods stalls also set up around the shrine grounds during the festival, creating a lively and festive atmosphere that is well worth experiencing.
