7 Hiroshima Cafes Where You Can Enjoy Authentic Coffee, Recommended by a Writer with 5 Years of Barista Experience
Akam Coffee Works
Source:Official website
Akam Coffee Works is "a shop for coffee lovers." The appealing point is that you can feel the owner's strong commitment to coffee.
The menu describes the characteristics of each coffee bean in more detail than any other shop, and the roasting date is also noted. Please try to find your favorite coffee.
I also recommend chatting with the owner. As a coffee professional, the owner will explain recommended coffees and brewing methods in detail and with care.
Akam Coffee Works has restrictions on photography because of their strong commitment to coffee. This shop is recommended not for those who want to enjoy taking photos or chatting, but for those who want to encounter a single cup of exquisite coffee.
For me as a barista, it was a place where I could remember my beginnings and passion for improvement.

sapta
Source:Official website
sapta is also a cafe where you can enjoy the owner's carefully roasted in-house coffee. They serve coffee ranging from medium-light to medium-dark roast.
I recommend the drip coffee, which you can order by choosing from beans carefully selected by the owner. Watching the coffee being dripped with careful movements while taking in the aroma is one of life's happy moments.
The appealing point is that you can enjoy everything as a whole—the taste of the coffee, the atmosphere of the shop, and the time to relax and chat with family and friends during your trip. When I look back on my Hiroshima trip, this is the place I remember thinking, "That was fun, that was happiness."

Breath Hiroshima Point
Source:Official Instagram
Breath Hiroshima Point has written on their Instagram profile: "We aim for something sweet and soft, clear, and that allows you to see through delicate layers." I admit that before visiting the shop, I found this rather abstract, but the moment I took a sip of coffee, I understood the meaning.
The coffee at Breath Hiroshima Point is richly flavored, yet beyond that, you can sense a sweetness, gentleness, and delicacy—it's a wonderful coffee.
A unique point of Breath Hiroshima Point is that the flavor taste of the coffee is displayed using gradient colors.
Even for those who don't usually drink coffee and find it difficult to imagine the taste from written descriptions, at Breath Hiroshima Point you can intuitively choose a coffee that suits your preferences.

Miles Coffee
Source:Tabelog
Miles Coffee is a new coffee stand that opened in April 2024. The appealing point of Miles Coffee is that every menu item has the perfect balance.
The balance between the richness and refreshingness of the coffee, the balance between bitterness and acidity, the balance between espresso and milk—everything was to my liking.
Also, when you visit Miles Coffee, I definitely want you to try the tiramisu. The tiramisu, with its sponge soaked in the highest level of espresso made by a coffee shop, has a more elegant aroma than tiramisu from any cake shop.

OBSCURA COFFEE ROASTERS Hondori
Source:Tripadvisor
OBSCURA COFFEE ROASTERS Hondori is a coffee stand known for its original blend coffee.
The "Hondori Blend," with its subtle fruity sweetness, is an exquisite drink you can only have at OBSCURA COFFEE ROASTERS Hondori. They also offer carefully selected coffees from around the world.
OBSCURA COFFEE ROASTERS Hondori is a takeout-only shop, so I recommend stopping by between sightseeing. I purchased my coffee before visiting Hiroshima Castle, which is about a 15-minute walk away.
The delicious coffee I drank on a bench while gazing at the beautiful building is one of my unforgettable memories.

shimaji coffee LAB.
Source:Tabelog
shimaji coffee LAB. is a shop famous for light-roast coffee. Light-roast coffee is characterized by its strong acidity and aroma.
It's perfect for those who want to taste the fruitiness of coffee or feel the individuality of the coffee beans. Since most coffee stands offer medium to dark roasts, I think this is a place where many people can enjoy a fresh taste.
Additionally, the variety of sweets is another appealing point of shimaji coffee LAB. The carrot cake is especially popular. The gentle, non-cloying sweetness and the smooth cream cheese topping pair perfectly with the refreshing coffee.

Progress LIFE STYLE COFFEE
Source:Official website
Progress LIFE STYLE COFFEE is a shop known for its easy-to-drink coffee. Actually, the owner was originally someone who didn't like coffee. Therefore, Progress LIFE STYLE COFFEE serves coffee that is easy to drink even for those who aren't fond of coffee.
On the other hand, the coffee-like richness and flavor are very pronounced. Even for me, who drinks coffee year-round, when I take a sip at Progress LIFE STYLE COFFEE, I feel as if the flavor and energy of the coffee permeate throughout my entire body.
"Delicious for everyone"—that is the appealing point of Progress LIFE STYLE COFFEE.
The atmosphere of the shop is also an appealing point. The stylish interior, designed with the concept of the owner's home, allows you to relax as if you were visiting an old friend's house.

4 Recommended Kissaten Where You Can Feel the Local Atmosphere of Hiroshima Cafe and Kissaten 2026
So far, we have introduced cafes perfect for enjoying special moments during your travels. From here, we will introduce "kissaten," traditional Japanese-style cafes.
Kissaten are places where you can enjoy drinks and meals, but more importantly, they are spaces that value spending everyday moments in your own way—whether it's time alone reading a book or having long conversations with familiar friends.
Why not take a relaxing break at a kissaten and experience how locals spend their peaceful days off?
Asahi Coffee Salon Ebisucho
Source:Tabelog
Asahi Coffee Salon Ebisucho is a traditional kissaten established in 1950. The old-fashioned menu and atmosphere have been preserved, making you feel as if you've traveled back in time to an era you've only seen in movies.
My favorite aspect is the retro tableware they use.
The coffee is also brewed using nel drip, a traditional drip method. Nel drip uses a cloth filter to extract coffee, which takes longer than paper drip.
This allows you to enjoy a richer, more aromatic coffee experience. If you love coffee, please try it at least once.

Corita Cafe
Source:Official website
Corita Cafe opened in 2015, but it has the atmosphere of an old-fashioned kissaten. The interior, lighting, background music—everything has a warmth to it, and even though I was born in the 21st century, I somehow feel nostalgic in this mysterious space.
I usually tend to fiddle with my smartphone during idle moments, but on the day I visited Corita Cafe, I spent my time reading a novel as if smartphones didn't exist.
I felt like I was able to completely forget about social media for the first time in a while.
Also, if you come to Corita Cafe, you must try the custard pudding. It's an old-fashioned firm pudding with the gentle sweetness of eggs. Enjoying retro sweets in such a calm atmosphere is truly exceptional.

Kissa en
Source:Google Maps
Kissa en is a kissaten started by a fruit wholesaler. The fresh, delicious fruit and body-friendly sweets are the reasons I want to recommend Kissa en to everyone.
First, fresh juice is perfect for enjoying the fruit. They carefully select seasonal fruits, so you can enjoy different juices depending on the day. You can taste the sweetness of the fruit directly. They also sell fresh fruit, so buying some to eat back at your hotel is also recommended.
Additionally, the sweets are made without additives. The natural, simple flavors are very delicious, and the health-conscious aspect is an appealing point.

Kissa Shima
Source:Official website
Kissa Shima is a kissaten located in Miyajima, a popular tourist destination in Hiroshima. It's the perfect place to stop by during your food walk or to rest when you're tired from walking around the island.
The sandwiches are packed with fillings, very generous in portion, and incredibly delicious. When I go food walking in Miyajima, my favorite route is to have Kissa Shima's sandwich as my main meal, then snack on sweets and light bites afterward.
Also, I recommend the baked confection called "Miyajima Weekend Citron." It uses honey harvested in Miyajima and lemons grown along the Seto Inland Sea coast where Miyajima floats—truly a taste of the local area. The combination of honey's sweetness and lemon's tartness is outstanding.

3 Popular Hiroshima Cafe and Kissaten 2026: Enjoy Japanese and Western Cuisine
chano-ma
Source:Tabelog
Chano-ma is a restaurant where you can enjoy Japanese cuisine and Japanese-style sweets.
My recommendation is the set called Deli lunch. It includes three side dishes of your choice from twelve options, along with rice, pork miso soup, pickles, and a drink.
The appealing point is that you can create your own customized set meal according to your physical condition and preferences. Also, everything has a gentle seasoning, and when you eat here, you feel energy flowing not only to your body but also to your heart.
A unique feature is that they have mattress seating. You can stretch out your legs and relax as if you were at a party at a friend's house.

Source:Tabelog
AIDA with CAFE Hiroshima is a shop that combines a variety goods store with a cafe. You can enjoy shopping and dining at the same time inside the store.
The appealing point of lunch at AIDA with CAFE Hiroshima is that it is packed with plenty of vegetables.
Since your nutritional balance tends to get disrupted during travel, we recommend filling up on delicious, body-friendly food at AIDA with CAFE Hiroshima.

Marifu Coffee Roaster Kamiyacho Store
Source:Tripadvisor
Marifu Coffee Roaster Kamiyacho Store is a place where you can enjoy Western cuisine in a kissaten (traditional Japanese coffee shop) style. They offer carefully selected coffee, sandwiches so packed with ingredients they seem about to overflow, and classic coffee shop omelet rice—a lineup that evokes a sense of nostalgia.
My top recommendation is the Adult's Kid's Meal. It features a lineup that looks like a supersized kid's meal, including omelet rice, fried shrimp, and hamburg steak.
Since you're on a special trip, why not return to your childhood and enjoy a big kid's meal?

For a Deeper Experience of Hiroshima's Culture, History, and Traditions, We Recommend Exploring with a Local Tour!

For sightseeing in Hiroshima, we recommend tours by Magical Trip.
For example, the Hiroshima Peace (Heiwa) Walking Tour at World Heritage Sites takes you around war-related spots such as the Atomic Bomb Dome, where you learn about the damage caused by the war and how Hiroshima has pursued peace in the postwar period.
The Miyajima Half-day Trip Historical Walking Tour allows you to enjoy beautiful scenery such as Itsukushima Shrine, a shrine that appears to float on the sea, while also experiencing the faith that has been nurtured on Miyajima.
The appealing point of Magical Trip tours is that you can visit the must-see sightseeing spots when coming to Hiroshima while also touching on intangible aspects such as the thoughts and feelings that the people of Hiroshima have cultivated.
