When visiting the charming city of Hiroshima, why not experience the magic hour and its enchanting scenery, in addition to exploring famous landmarks and savoring local cuisine?

For the best magic hour experience in Hiroshima, I recommend visiting the rooftop observation deck "Hiroshima Hill" at Orizuru Tower. The observation deck features an open wooden deck design that allows the breeze to flow through, letting you enjoy beautiful views while feeling the refreshing wind.

What is Magic Hour?

What is Magic Hour?

Magic hour refers to the time before sunrise or after sunset when the sun dips below the horizon, painting the sky in fantastical colors. The sky transforms from blue to orange, red, and purple, creating a mystical gradient that changes moment by moment.

Magic hour lasts approximately one hour, but the 15 minutes immediately following sunset are said to offer the most spectacular views.

If you don't have time to leisurely enjoy the entire magic hour, make sure to plan your schedule so you don't miss these precious 15 minutes.

Depending on the Season, You Can Enjoy Both Twilight and the Hiroshima Night View 2026

Since magic hour occurs after sunset, depending on the season, you can enjoy both the twilight and the Hiroshima night view 2026—another appealing aspect of this experience.

The twilight, as city lights gradually begin to illuminate, and the Hiroshima night view 2026, with its vivid lights glowing against the darkness, offer distinctly different impressions. Be sure to capture both in photographs and compare them!

The sky and cityscape that transform with each passing moment are truly dramatic—you won't be able to take your eyes off them for even a second!

If you're enjoying magic hour at Orizuru Tower, why not visit the ROOF TOP CAFE & BAR at HIROSHIMA ORIZURU TOWER, which opens from spring to summer?

The ROOF TOP CAFE & BAR at HIROSHIMA ORIZURU TOWER operates under the concept of an "adult sunset café and bar," allowing guests to dine while overlooking the Hiroshima cityscape from the rooftop observation deck of Orizuru Tower.

From your seat, you can enjoy different scenery during the day, at twilight, and at night, with the twilight and nighttime views being particularly acclaimed.

I have also dined here during dinner hours. Watching the glittering Hiroshima night view 2026 emerge from the darkness after sunset, I felt freed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoyed my meal in an extraordinary atmosphere.

The drink menu features an extensive lineup that will have you spoiled for choice, including beverages made with Hiroshima-grown fruits, local craft beers, and sake. Take in the breathtaking views while savoring a drink unique to Hiroshima.

For Peace-Related Sites, We Recommend Touring with Local Guides Who Deeply Understand Hiroshima's History and Culture

Hiroshima has a well-developed public transportation system, so many visitors choose to explore the scattered peace-related sites on their own.

However, if you have a local guide show you around the peace-related sites, they can share in-depth information not found in guidebooks. For a deeper understanding of Hiroshima's history and culture, touring with locals is highly recommended.

With the Hiroshima Peace (Heiwa) Walking Tour at World Heritage, you can efficiently explore Hiroshima with the guidance of a local guide.

5 Night View Spots in Hiroshima Recommended by the Author for Enjoying the Beautiful Cityscape

Mt. Kogane

Mt. Kogane

Mt. Kogane is a small mountain with an elevation of approximately 222 meters located in the southeastern part of Hiroshima City. Due to its resemblance to Mt. Fuji, it is also called "Golden Mount Fuji." (Kogane means "golden" in Japanese.)

From the observatory at the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Bay, and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. The scenery from dusk to nighttime is particularly renowned for its breathtaking beauty.

In spring, you can admire approximately 480 cherry trees planted along the hiking trail leading to the summit, while in autumn, you can enjoy the collaboration of yellow and red autumn foliage, allowing you to savor the scenery of each season.

The summit is accessible by car, but since it only takes about an hour on foot, I recommend hiking while enjoying nature along the way. This is one of the must-visit destinations for experiencing Hiroshima Night View 2026.

Mt. Haigamine

Mt. Haigamine

Mt. Haigamine is a mountain with an elevation of 737 meters located in Kure City, more than twice the height of Mount Hakodate, one of Japan's three most famous night views.

The glittering cityscape viewed from the observatory at the summit is renowned as a breathtaking view, as if gazing down from the heavens. It has been selected as one of the "Three Great Night Views of the Chugoku Region" and the "Top 100 Night Views of Japan."

The spectacular night view can be enjoyed in a 360-degree panorama, and when I saw it for the first time, my heart was instantly captivated by the night view sparkling like jewels.

The scenery unique to this port town, where you can simultaneously see the lights of Kure City, ships anchored in the harbor, and moonlight, is also called the "Naples of the Orient," guaranteeing a romantic night view experience. It is an exceptional spot for enjoying Hiroshima Night View 2026.

Ryuo Park

Ryuo Park

Ryuo Park is a comprehensive park where you can enjoy plenty of physical activities with baseball fields, tennis courts, playground equipment areas, and multipurpose plazas.

Located on elevated ground at approximately 240 meters above sea level, the park offers views of Hiroshima City while exercising and is beloved as a relaxation spot for local residents.

The playground area features slides and tunnels where small children can play safely. BBQ spaces are also available, and the park is renowned as a place where the whole family can enjoy a full day of fun while taking in the spectacular views.

If you want to see the popular night view, I recommend visiting on weekdays. More lights shine from business buildings on weekdays than on weekends, allowing you to enjoy an even more brilliant view of Hiroshima Night View 2026.

Ozorayama Park Observatory

Ozorayama Park Observatory is an observation deck located within a park at the summit of "Mount Ozora," which has an elevation of approximately 200 meters in Kure City.

Since the park is situated on the former site of a naval artillery battery, it offers excellent views, including the eastern townscape of Kure City, the Seto Inland Sea, and Aga Marino Ohashi.

Within the park, you can sense the historical aspects through the remains of artillery batteries and ammunition depots established during the Meiji era. The park is also famous as a cherry blossom viewing spot with approximately 1,200 cherry trees planted, earning it a reputation as a place where you can enjoy history, nature, and views all together.

Since the park is usually frequented mainly by local residents and not crowded, I recommend it for those who want to leisurely enjoy the scenery and Hiroshima Night View 2026.

Around Sorazaya Bridge

Sorazaya Bridge is a bridge spanning the Honkawa River, named after Sorasaya Inao Shrine.

It has been developed as one of the places symbolizing Hiroshima as the "City of Water" and has even received a Special Award from the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Design Prize, offering beautiful scenery to enjoy.

On the east side of the Honkawa River where the bridge crosses, large apartment buildings have been constructed. At night, the lights from daily life begin to illuminate the darkness. The light from the rooms reflects on the river's surface, creating a charming riverside scenery, making this known as a hidden night view spot.

Why not stroll along the riverside and fully enjoy a night view that lets you experience a local atmosphere? It is a wonderful way to discover Hiroshima Night View 2026 from a unique perspective.

5 Exquisite Night View Spots to Enjoy Hiroshima's Beautifully Illuminated Cityscape

Atomic Bomb Dome

Atomic Bomb Dome

The Atomic Bomb Dome, one of Hiroshima's most popular tourist spots, is illuminated every day from sunset until midnight. The white light makes the building stand out even more dramatically in the darkness, and it's known for offering an impactful view of the Atomic Bomb Dome.

However, the illuminated appearance is not gaudy but rather evokes a solemn atmosphere.

The sight reflected on the surface of the river flowing alongside is particularly enchanting. When I first saw it, I was deeply moved by the scenery so different from daytime.

Why not deepen your thoughts on world peace in the quietude while viewing the illuminated Atomic Bomb Dome?

Hiroshima Castle

Hiroshima Castle

Hiroshima Castle is a castle built in the 16th century. Although it was destroyed by the atomic bomb, it was rebuilt in 1958 as a symbol of Hiroshima's reconstruction. The castle's main tower is illuminated every day from sunset until around 10 PM.

Usually it's brightly lit in white, but during special events it's illuminated in various colors—gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, orange for World Alzheimer's Day, and rainbow colors for international events like the G7 Hiroshima Summit.

Hiroshima Castle's illumination is attracting attention from many people not only as a place to enjoy the scenery but also as a venue for expressing social messages.

Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island is a popular tourist attraction and photo spot known for its mystical appearance where the shrine buildings seem to float on the sea at high tide.

At Itsukushima Shrine, the shrine buildings, great torii gate, and five-story pagoda are illuminated from sunset until around 11 PM, allowing visitors to enjoy an even more mystical atmosphere.

While viewing the illumination from land is beautiful, I recommend enjoying it from a night cruise. You can see the shrine and great torii gate up close from the sea, and I was overwhelmed by the powerful scenery.

On the night cruise, depending on the tide conditions, you may even pass under the torii gate—an experience unique to this torii gate floating on the sea. Please board the cruise and fully enjoy the charm of Itsukushima Shrine that you cannot experience from land.

Kure Port Observation Deck

Kure Port Observation Deck

Kure Port Observation Deck is a free observation deck located on the 5th floor of Kure Chuo Pier Terminal. The building features a bronze-colored roof dome designed to blend into the town of Kure, and brick-style exterior walls that create an atmospheric ambiance.

From the observation deck, you can enjoy a panoramic view of illuminated Kure City, and since the Kure Port is right in front, you can also see Maritime Self-Defense Force escort ships moored at the port and ferries coming and going across the sea.

The vast ocean scenery stretching far into the distance is magnificent, and I lost track of time fully enjoying this quintessentially Kure cityscape.

Inside the facility, there's a kids' area where small children can play and rest spaces available, making it easy to visit even with children.

Senkoji Temple

Senkoji Temple

At Senkoji Temple, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the Onomichi Channel, the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, and even the Shikoku mountain range, not only from the temple situated at an altitude of approximately 144 meters but also from the observation deck "PEAK" at the summit of Senkoji Park.

The observation deck was reopened after renovation in 2022 and is attracting attention for its unique design resembling a 63-meter-long corridor bridge.

The night view from the observation deck is so beautiful that it has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Night Views" and a "Sacred Place for Lovers." Many tourists visit to experience the romantic atmosphere different from daytime.

The summit is accessible by a 10-minute walk from Senkoji Park parking lot, or if you take the ropeway, it's right from the mountaintop station, making it easily accessible even for those who aren't confident in their physical strength.
