Sumo Town Walk (with Chanko Lunch)

Tokyo & Yokohama (Central Kanto)

Description

Your guide picks you up at the lobby of the hotel you are staying, and then go to Ryogoku. This town is filled with sumo atmosphere. Right in front of the station stands Ryogoku Kokugikan sumo stadium, the mecca of sumo wrestlers. Next to the stadium is Edo-Tokyo Museum where you can find historical and modern Tokyo. Eko-in Temple is a quiet, restrained temple with a long history, and it was used for sumo bouts. In the end of the tour, you will enjoy Chankonabe for lunch at a restaurant. Chankonabe is a kind of stew commonly eaten by sumo wrestlers, so it is so-called a local dish in this area.

It was such an amazing experience, and we had really good time.\\N The guide gave us detailed explanation on Ryogoku town and Sumo history like what it was like back in edo-era.\\N I really enjoyed walking around the town. Even though the museum was kind of crowded at the time, we learned and experienced a lot.
