A stroll through the photogenic Kanmon Straits !
The Kanmon Straits are the gateway between Honsyu(mainland) and Kyushu. With Kyushu across the strait in the distance, the dynamic scenery is sure to make for great photos. First, go check out the fresh seafood at Karato Market!
Seafood paradise at the market !
A weekend morning stroll through the famous Karato Market in Shimonoseki, Japan's largest market for puffer fish. This is a food walking tour where you can enjoy fresh and voluminous sushi while watching the lively conversations in the market. You can eat for only a few hundred yen what would cost several thousand yen at a fancy restaurant, and enjoy rare ingredients that are rarely seen. Enjoy the view of the Kanmon Straits while eating fresh sushi.
After the taste, let's immerse ourselves in history !
Next to the market, we will visit the photogenic Akama Shrine. The Kanmon Straits are also the scene of historical battles, with the final battle between the Taira and Minamoto clans taking place in the 12th century. The shrine has a deep connection to this history, and your guide will introduce the story.
