Osaka Events November 2026: Ultimate Guide to Fireworks, Illuminations & Food Festivals

Osaka Published: Apr 17, 2026

For most people visiting Osaka, the main attraction is its food. Iconic local specialties like takoyaki and okonomiyaki are loved all across Japan, and countless food lovers come to Osaka day after day to enjoy food hopping around the city.

Since making Kansai my second base in 2024, I’ve been visiting Osaka several times a year. Every time, I dive into Osaka’s food scene with total enthusiasm, and I still keep discovering new restaurants and local dishes that amaze me with their flavor.

Another distinctive feature of Osaka is how knowledgeable locals are about good food. Ask them about great places to eat in Namba or Umeda, and they’ll happily point you to spot after spot where you can enjoy the “real Osaka food” that never makes it into guidebooks.

That’s why, if you want to experience the local food truly loved by Osakans, the best option is to be guided directly by locals.

With tours from Magical Trip—winner of Tripadvisor’s Best of the Best in both 2024 and 2025—you’re sure to discover Osaka food that will genuinely satisfy you.

To enjoy Osaka’s outstanding local cuisine, choose the tour that suits your taste from the two options below. You can check the details on each page.

  • Osaka Bar Hopping Night Tour in Namba: Enjoy 3–5 Osaka local dishes paired with carefully selected drinks. If you want to soak in Namba’s unique atmosphere while savoring great food and drinks, this tour is highly recommended.
  • Osaka Local Foodie Tour in Dotonbori and Shinsekai: Sample classic Osaka specialties such as six pieces of kushikatsu, one box of takoyaki, and okonomiyaki, along with three drinks. Tours are available both during the day and at night, making it very convenient.

If you’d like to explore Osaka’s sightseeing spots more deeply, we also recommend the “5-Hour Osaka Highlights Bike Tour with Lunch,” where you can visit Osaka Castle and Osaka Tenmangu Shrine with a local guide, or the “Kuromon Market Walking Street Food Tour in Osaka,” which lets you enjoy must-eat foods from Osaka’s kitchen, Kuromon Market, while sightseeing.

Introduction

Osaka is a city located in the western region of Japan, famous for its unique culture and customs. It has developed as a commercial city where trade thrives, serving as the economic center of Japan's western region.

In Osaka, when November arrives, temperatures drop significantly, and beautiful autumn foliage can be seen throughout the city. This is the season when many fireworks events are held in the cool climate, along with illumination events leading up to Christmas and the year-end.

Osaka has a cultural tendency to favor glamorous things, allowing visitors to enjoy fireworks displays and illuminations with more gorgeous presentations than other regions.

This time, we will introduce events taking place in Osaka in November 2026, focusing on fireworks displays and illumination events. If you're planning to visit Osaka in autumn, please check out these enjoyable events you might want to experience.

In November Osaka, You Can Enjoy Beautiful Fireworks Events Throughout the City

In November, beautiful fireworks events are held throughout Osaka and surrounding areas. At Expo Commemoration Park and Rinku Park in Osaka, popular fireworks events with a reputation for high quality are held.

Also, it's recommended to venture a little further from Osaka to visit the historic fireworks display held on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture.

Expo Night Sky Becomes Art Day

Expo Night Sky Becomes Art Day is a popular fireworks event held annually at Expo Commemoration Park in Osaka. Expo Park is a lush green park that serves as a place of relaxation for citizens, featuring Osaka's symbolic Tower of the Sun.

Expo Night Sky Becomes Art Day is a paid event where you can enjoy high-quality fireworks. About 15,000 fireworks are launched in one hour, synchronized with music. Various types of seats are set up at different spots throughout the vast park, allowing you to enjoy the powerful fireworks from your preferred location.

When I went to see it last year, dramatic fireworks were launched one after another at a good tempo in sync with dramatic music. There was also a light show by drones, creating a very gorgeous fireworks show.

The venue has many food stalls, and various stage events are held from 12:00 on the day of the event. It's also recommended to visit Expo Park during the day and enjoy the event throughout the entire day.

Osaka Artistic Fireworks 2026

Osaka Artistic Fireworks 2026 is a fireworks event held at Rinku Park in Osaka's waterfront area. All seats are paid, and only people with tickets can enter the venue to watch the fireworks.

At Osaka Artistic Fireworks, fireworks are launched from ships floating on Osaka Bay, allowing you to enjoy luxurious fireworks with an unobstructed panoramic view.

When I went to see it last year, all the fireworks had vivid and delicate colors and shapes, with no obstructing smoke, making me feel it was top-level quality in Japan. I was also surprised that the launch timing was managed to 1/30th of a second, perfectly synchronized with music and lyrics.

Since it's a paid event for all seats, you can sit comfortably, and buying food at the venue's food booths is very comfortable without crowds. If you want to enjoy high-quality fireworks events in Osaka, why not participate in Osaka Artistic Fireworks?

In November, a major fireworks event is also held in Hyogo Prefecture, which neighbors Osaka Prefecture. The event takes place on Awaji Island, an island floating in the Seto Inland Sea.

Awaji Island is a historic island that appears in Japanese mythology, where you can enjoy beautiful ocean scenery and gourmet foods such as wagyu beef and seafood.

Awaji Island Festival Fireworks Display is a fireworks event held together with the traditional summer festival, Awaji Island Festival. It was a popular event held every summer, but this year the Fireworks Display will be held in the cooler climate of November.

Ohama Beach on Awaji Island serves as the fireworks launch venue, and on the event day, you can enjoy large fireworks launched over the sea. Each time they are launched, the fireworks reflect on the sea surface, brilliantly illuminating the surroundings.

Ohama Beach, which serves as the launch venue, is a beautiful coast with shaded areas, and the seawater is very clean. If you're visiting from Osaka, it's also recommended to go the day before or in the morning and leisurely tour Awaji Island.

Spectacular Illumination Events to Enjoy Along with Fireworks

Festival of the Lights in OSAKA

Festival of the lights in OSAKA is a regular illumination event held on a large scale in Osaka during winter.

This year, special illuminations were implemented from April to October in conjunction with the big event being held in Osaka - the 2026 World Expo. From November onwards, as usual, gorgeous illuminations perfect for the Christmas to year-end season will be held.

Various events are held in different areas of Osaka, so please check the details of each location and visit them.

Nakanoshima Area

Nakanoshima is an area in Osaka City surrounded by rivers, where Osaka City Hall, museums, luxury hotels, and other facilities are concentrated. During the annual winter Festival of the lights in OSAKA period, many illumination events are held in Nakanoshima to decorate the area every year.

For example, the main attraction is the projection mapping projected onto the walls of the beautiful Renaissance-style architecture, Osaka City Central Public Hall. When I visited last year, high-quality art graphics were displayed one after another along with magnificent music, and I was moved by the unexpectedly high level of artistry.

In addition, 3D mapping held at Osaka City Hall, riverside illuminations along the waterfront paths, and night markets decorated with illuminations - many illuminations and events are held daily.

During the Festival of the lights in OSAKA period, please visit the Nakanoshima area.

Midosuji Area

During the Festival of the Lights in OSAKA period, large-scale illuminations are held annually in the Midosuji Area, which is the central part of Osaka City. The illumination of the trees lining Midosuji boulevard is particularly spectacular, taking place along approximately 4 kilometers every year, becoming a symbolic winter sight of Osaka.

The illuminations decorating the trees along the tree-lined avenue feature different main colors by area, including purple, gold, and blue. Last year, I particularly loved the colorful mixed-color illuminations held near Dotonbori, which gave a pop-art impression.

Additionally, the Midosuji Area is a business district where many famous corporate buildings are concentrated. Each building implements projection mapping and special lighting displays. Try walking along Midosuji's tree-lined avenue for a while while enjoying the changing colors, or tour various buildings to enjoy the diverse lighting displays.

At Nagai Botanical Gardens, a large botanical garden in Osaka City, illumination events are also held as part of the Festival of the Lights in OSAKA. By purchasing a paid ticket and entering in the evening, you can enjoy light art works and fantastical installations displayed in the nighttime botanical garden.

For example, egg-shaped objects are placed in the Camellia Garden within the botanical garden, which naturally begin to glow when it gets dark at night. The objects glow even brighter when stimulated by touch or wind.

The surrounding trees and forests are illuminated by lights of various colors, making me feel as if I were in a mysterious and beautiful forest on an unknown planet. The blue nemophila field is also lit up, creating a fantastical and beautiful scene with pale blue light.

Nagai Botanical Gardens is located in a corner of the nature-rich Nagai Park. Since it's a spot where you can enjoy nature even during bright hours, visiting during the daytime is also recommended.

Illuminight (Osaka Expo Park)

At Expo Park, a park beloved by local people, special events are held annually during the Festival of the Lights in OSAKA period. In 2024, special lighting of the Tower of the Sun at Expo Park and the traditional gourmet event Ramen Expo were held.

During my 2025 visit, the Tower of the Sun was colorfully lit up with projection mapping. The Tower of the Sun is a tower created in the 1970s by Taro Okamoto, a representative Japanese artist. Due to its unique appearance, it is beloved by local people as a symbol of Osaka, and when enhanced with colorful lights, it appeared even more lively and energetic than usual.

At Festival Square, the Ramen Expo was also held simultaneously, where popular ramen shops from across the country gathered and opened limited-time shops. This is a valuable opportunity to taste popular local ramen from all over the country and is an extremely popular annual event.

Osaka Castle, a historic castle built in the 16th century, is also decorated with gorgeous illuminations every year from November. At the popular annual event Osaka Castle Illumination, you can see light objects and illuminations themed around Osaka's history.

At the 2024 event, the famous samurai Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who built Osaka Castle, and warriors wearing armor and helmets were recreated through illuminations. Additionally, Osaka's tourist spots, including Tsutenkaku, Osaka's symbolic tower, and the Dotonbori streetscape, were expressed through colorful illuminations.

There are many objects with colorful and pop impressions typical of Osaka, and since you can freely walk around the spacious grounds, children can also enjoy it. Kaiyukan Illumination

Source: FASHION PRESS

At Kaiyukan, one of Osaka's most iconic aquariums, an illumination display inspired by the world of the aquarium appears every year from November through March. A monument designed to evoke the image of a water tank appears in the plaza, bathing visitors in a soft, soothing light.

Illuminations of Kaiyukan's beloved faces — including Penguins and a Whale Shark — are also on display, with a sense of movement and vitality that makes them appear almost alive. That lifelike energy is one of the event's most compelling highlights.

These sculptures can be enjoyed not just at night, but during the daytime as well. Illuminated by sunlight, the waterside monuments transform into a reddish-hued display that enchants all who see them. If you want to enjoy both a world-class aquarium and stunning artistic illuminations, this is a must-visit destination.

Cheese EXPO in Expo Park

Source: FASHION PRESS

Cheese EXPO in Expo Park is a gourmet event held in November at Expo Park. Many booths selling world cheeses and serving cheese dishes like pizza, cheeseburgers, and cheese curry are set up in Expo Park's East Square.

When I visited last year, various cheese dishes were being sold, including grilled cheese sandwiches with four types of cheese and curry with cheese naan. What I liked most was the cheeseburger made with Banshu beef, a premium wagyu from Hyogo Prefecture.

The fine-textured, sweet and savory wagyu perfectly matched with rich cheese, creating such deliciousness that I finished the hamburger in no time.

When you purchase cheese or food, you receive stamps, and a stamp rally with luxurious prizes was also being held. If you love cheese or want to try Japan's unique cheese dishes, please participate.
