Artizon Museum
Source:Official website
Artizon Museum is an art museum that exhibits a wide range of works from Impressionist paintings to contemporary art. "Artizon" is a term created by combining "Art" and "Horizon," expressing the hope that many people will feel the charm of art that pioneers new eras.
With approximately 3,000 works spanning various genres, my recommended point is that you can compare art from different eras and styles all in one museum.
The exhibition rooms at Artizon Museum have an open atmosphere, and the café and observation spaces are well-equipped. It is about a 5-minute walk from Tokyo Station, making it easy to stop by during sightseeing. It is a perfect spot for art beginners or those who want to leisurely enjoy art appreciation.

Shiseido Gallery regularly holds exhibitions specializing in contemporary art, and all can be viewed for free. From solo exhibitions by individual artists to group exhibitions featuring multiple artists, the highlight is that you can encounter different works each time you visit.
In the spacious venue with 5-meter-high ceilings, large-scale works are also displayed, allowing you to feel the power of the artworks up close. ART AQUARIUM Museum GINZA
Source:PR TIMES
ART AQUARIUM Museum GINZA is a unique museum that displays art works using goldfish. Goldfish have been beloved as ornamental fish in Japan since ancient times, and at this museum, you can encounter goldfish of various colors and shapes.
At ART AQUARIUM Museum GINZA, the characteristic feature is that aquariums where goldfish swim are transformed into fantastical art spaces through productions combining light, music, and fragrance. The tanks with Japanese-style designs that evoke a sense of "wa" (Japanese harmony) are particularly atmospheric and are my favorites.
There are also works that collaborate with kimono and Ginza traditional crafts and arts, allowing you to visually enjoy Japanese culture.
ART AQUARIUM Museum GINZA is also popular as a photo spot where you can take Instagram-worthy photos. If you want to visit a trendy spot while experiencing Japanese culture, please give it a try.

Kabuki-Za Theater

Kabuki-Za Theater is the only theater in Japan that performs kabuki throughout the year. Kabuki is a traditional Japanese performing art that began about 400 years ago, characterized by elaborate costumes, makeup, and unique acting styles.
At Kabuki-Za Theater, "Hitomaku-miseki" (single-act seat) tickets are also available, allowing you to watch just one act at a reasonable price. It is a welcome point that even those with limited time or first-time kabuki viewers can easily experience it.
The underground shopping area, the rooftop on the 5th floor, and the Kabuki Gallery can be accessed without a ticket, so please check them out if you want to experience the atmosphere. Why not stop by if you are interested in Ginza traditional crafts and arts, or if you enjoy musicals and theater?

Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre
Source:Tripadvisor
Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre is a theater that hosts a wide range of performances including kabuki, plays, and musicals throughout the year. It opened in 1925 as a venue for traditional geisha (female performers who have mastered Japanese performing arts) to showcase their dances and has a long history.
The theater has 1,428 seats, and events such as rakugo (traditional Japanese comedy) are also held in the basement. There are also dining halls and tea spaces, so you can spend a leisurely time while enjoying a meal.
Every year in late May, "Azuma Odori," a traditional dance performance by geisha, takes place and is cherished as a seasonal highlight of Tokyo's spring. Azuma Odori is a special performance where geisha perform dances in gorgeous costumes, so I go to see it every year.
Please check it out if you want to enjoy various forms of Ginza traditional crafts and arts through Japanese performing arts.

Kanze Noh Theatre
Kanze Noh Theatre is a specialized theater for Noh performances, located on the 3rd basement floor of the complex "GINZA SIX." Noh is a traditional Japanese performing art that began about 600 years ago, where masked performers express stories through slow, graceful movements.
The 480-seat theater regularly hosts authentic Noh performances. An attractive point is that there is a multilingual system, so you can understand the content while watching even if you do not understand Japanese. The program differs for each performance, so it is recommended to check the official website in advance and reserve tickets.
Being located inside GINZA SIX, it is conveniently accessible, and after the performance, you can enjoy dining within the facility or in the surrounding area.
It is perfect for those who want to experience Ginza traditional crafts and arts in English or those looking for a place to enjoy along with shopping.

It is fascinating to observe them sharpening knives or carving intricate patterns. Workshops are also held regularly, so you can not only observe but also experience making crafts yourself.
All the craft items displayed at Japan Traditional Crafts Aoyama Square are available for purchase. I often visit when looking for souvenirs for friends living abroad. If you are interested in Japanese traditional crafts, I encourage you to find a piece you can use in your daily life.

Edo Taitō Traditional Crafts Museum
Source:Tripadvisor
Edo Taitō Traditional Crafts Museum was established to introduce traditional crafts that have continued since the Edo period, more than 150 years ago. Taito Ward, where Asakusa and this museum are located, is the area in Tokyo with the highest concentration of traditional craft workshops.
Inside the museum, over 250 craft items of approximately 50 different types are displayed, including sudare (sunshades made of bamboo or wood) and traditional storage furniture. Craft items are also available for purchase, so be sure to look for souvenirs.
Every Saturday and Sunday, artisan demonstrations are held in the tatami room on the first floor, where you can observe the actual production process. I sometimes visit specifically to watch these artisan demonstrations.
This museum is recommended for those interested in artisan techniques that have continued since the Edo period, or for those who want to learn about traditional crafts while watching live demonstrations.

For Those Interested in Ginza Traditional Crafts and Arts, the Regularly Held "Japan Traditional Crafts Ginza Artisan's Street" at Matsuya Ginza Is Also Recommended

If you want to learn more about traditional crafts, be sure to check out "Japan Traditional Crafts Ginza Artisan's Street," held every February.
